Loosing Phillips, Shackelford, possibly Stokes and Oku, and who knows who else, this could be the worst finish we have had recruiting in a long time.

I gotta be honest, I expected more out of this staff, even though they got a late start. Didn't expect to lose recruits like we have and I really expected we would pick up some that we might not have otherwise.

I realize that signing day is still three days away, but unless the staff pulls something outta their rear, its gonna be disappointing.

I have a source close to Chicken Little that has confirmed that the sky is indeed falling over Knoxville. In light of these recent developments it's suggested that people in the East Tennessee area either seek shelter underground, or simply bend over and kiss your :censored: goodbye. It's all over now.

You have to expect to lose recruits because a lot of them were guys that the previous staff wanted who don't fit into what CLK is trying to build. Also, time is a factor, and we have been playing catchup with everyone since Fulmer left. The only thing that seems like a letdown is that there was a lot of talent visiting, and we got into their top 3 or 4 teams, but its tough to land those guys. I still think we finish with a good class, but no one should be disappointed. This staff has worked their butts off, and if they can put in half as much effort into coaching as they have into recruiting then we will be seeing some good things come next Fall.

no offense, but did you even look at the recruits we had in for the weekend? we're in the top 3 for a lot of highly rated guys that we weren't even in the running for a few months ago. i think the staff has done the best they could possibly do in trying to develop relationships with players that have talked to other coaches for months and even years..

Your real cute. You got something constructive to say? Or is being an ******* normal for you?

c'mon, buddy. he made a joke.

your whole post was negative and you're suggesting he's the one who needs to be constructive---seriously?

the staff hasn't met your expectations and you've basically labeled them failures without NSD even arriving yet and he can't have a little fun with you?

Saban's class wasn't that great in 07, but you saw what he did in 08.

Alabama Commit List for 2007

This class was going to be worse had we not made the hire we did.

By all accounts Fulmer and staff had a top ten class going. Saban's class in 2007 was rated #10 if I recall correctly.

I don't think we get close to a top ten class. Maybe if we get Brown, but I'm still not convinced we get him.

While that may have been the case or not, Lane and Co. have worked wonders getting in on prospects that Fulmer and Co. hadn't even sniffed.

"Wait til next year" is no longer an accepted phrase when referring to UT Football.

Yes I guess it was negative, but the facts are what they are.

Auburn and Co. have been doing a pretty darn good and they have been on the job for less time than Kiffin and our staff. We are supposed to have world class recruiters here, so how do we lose commits to Nutt and possibly Taylor and quite possibly the worst head coach hire in years in Chizik? (spelling)

Win and they will come. It wasn't going to be a banner year anyway. Some of you guys were setting yourselves up for disappointment from the beginning.

I got your back. I expected much more as well. I know there may be surprises, but UT needs better talent on the field NOW

The "fact" is that NSD is 2/4/2009

CLK could have easily signed 23-25 (2-3 star) type guys and made it look good to everyone on numbers alone but CLK doesn't believe in signing players to stand on the sidelines. Like it or not this year from nsd until next nsd may be a little rough however there is a plan in place and patience will be rewarded. Look up Sabans first year at Bama, anyone expecting a top five class this year and a trip to even the sec championship game is delusional and you can't blame Kiffin or the staff. Sure "we are" Tennessee but lets face it were Tennessee coming off a 5-7 season without a returning quarterback that could start anywhere else in the conference. Trust me even as great as it is to play for Tennessee right now it's a tough sell for the elite players. When your going for the best of the best in recruiting relationships have to be built. Remember the guys we are going after are wanted by every school in the country so it difficult to sway these guys in six weeks. There are so many examples of great programs having a difficult time getting their program back to the top after it's been run into the ground ( ND, Mich, Miami, etc.) WE can keep signing 2-3 star guys and continue finishing 7-5, 8-4 or 5-7 or we can take our lumps for a couple of years, build relationships and start pulling 4-5 star guys and shoot for the top. With CLK it's go big or go home, but it's going to take time. I just don't think some people realize how far down CPF has taken this program. How many recruiting battles did Fulmer win last year for top talent? ZERO and I don't care how many guys he had commitments from this year because I don't think he would have been able to close on several of them once they started getting attention from other "big" schools. Before you jump off the bridge realize it can and will get better but it is going to take time.
