I know i will get killed for doing this but i have been busy and not able to read the 10,000 threads about coaches. I have seen the names and who everyone wants, I keep seeing Jay Wright and Dixon mentioned along with Stevens. I have looked for a couple articles and have not seen any on Dixon or Wright even thinking about UT are there any? Obviously Stevens can not till after Butler is knocked out. I also see alot about Shaka and is he really what we want or the guy from Wichita st.

I did not expect us to know but I guess i figured to hear a little more about it i guess i mean i read some of our recruits want out of there letters Harris and Hopson are thinking of leaving I dont want a rush hire but I do not want to wait forever either. I know we are not an amazing Basketball school but we should get a quality proven coach.

I think the candidate list is bogus so it's untelling who we are going for. Just a bunch of reporters and fans guessing IMO

i wholeheartily agree with you. the list is just a smokescreen. i think we wind up with a 2nd level coach. maybe even fanscher or byrd

I don't know if i am right on this or not. But i think Shaka Smart has Anthony Grant's recruits that he had at VCU. So if it is true i don't know alot about Shaka.

I heard the knock on Shaka right now was that he can win with other coaches players and if that is the case he needs to stay far far from us because as of rite now we have no players for next year if Hopson and Harris decide to stay in the draft. I really wanted Pearl to stay as our coach yes he made some mistakes but so what, If they knew they were going to fire him they should of done it from day 1 and not drug it out this long.

So did anyone see anything about Wright or Dixon? I mean its a long shot but damn it we deserve a great coach for our team we should not have to get the next up and coming coach lets get a guy that we know that can win

"...walk into this----storm" sounds pretty negative. It's a turning point for the BB program - but I wouldn't characterize as negative. The right person at this moment has a great opportunity to take this program to a higher plateau. Great court, great training program, great support for student athletes, great tradition, great conference, great fans, great color (GBO), etc. There is some terrific mid-major talent out there that can get the job done and are looking for an opportunity to coach in a major conference and have a shot at a championship. I like a guy like Gregg Marshall - and there're others. Be patient - great is about to happen.

Seems like Marshall's name is popping up on many coaching search radars these days.

I like that his team's steadily improve year in and out. I just wish he had had more experience going farther in the post season than 1st or 2nd rounds. But, after hearing some of the negative posts on the future of UT basketball around here, I think this guy could bring some much needed stability, and hopefully develop players, getting more to the next level could really help him recruit top players. It just may take time, which none of us want to wait through at this point.
