It really was a classic southern college football game. It has been unfortunate over the past several years that this rivalry has turned so bitter. It really seemed to turn back to the classic rivalry that it used to be. I did not see any fans getting out of hand (although I'm sure it happened as it happens at all schools); and I feld like there was alot of mutual respect between the schools and the fans returning. I sat in the student section for this game and, of course, one small pocket of students attempted several times to start chants about Fulmer but the vast majority of students refused to join in. It really seemed to be about football again and about two programs that have traditionally been at the top of the SEC. I'll be rooting for y'all against ND. I think that your program will be fine. I think that you may want to focus more on good players that simply want to play at UT and love the school first and worry about the number of stars they have second. I personally do not think that your troubles lie with your coaches, but I don't have the years of focusing on UT that many of y'all have.

It was a very hard hitting game. I saw no difference in the way the players played this year than in the past. The difference is bammer won and that may be why many bammers are saying it was finally a clean game. The players almost always play clean. The fans sometimes don't.

Thanks for the kind words. UT/UA is still one of the reasons why the North could never be as good as the South.

That's not what I'm saying. Obviously, it was a hard hitting game. I'm talking about the overall atmosphere of the game. I wasn't in Knoxville last year so it may have began to shift some then. I met and talked with several very nice UT fans before and after the game. I just seemed different in some ways than in years past. (and not because of the result)

Sorry, this was in reply to VolBeef88's post above. I'm still learning how to use this board.

My point is that only bammers have thought (and brought) this game out of proper perspective.
You had a very civil post and I read my reply and it didn't sound good. So I appoligize and welcome you to the board. But reality is that maybe this win will bring the kook fringe of your fan base back to reality. Hopefully they now realize that UT, Fulmer, the CIA, FBI and the NCAA is/was not out to destroy bammer football.

i agree south has many old rivalries like auburn bama, bama tenn, ou texas, texas texas a&m.

the north doesnt have as many old IMPORTANT rivalries.

the best rivalry imo is ohio state and michigan but the north doesnt have much more then that. they have some good ones like mich nd, but none as constantly important.

I agree. Something very special about seeing that crimson on the field with that orange and white. Nothing like it and there was no place on earth I would have rather been. And when that game's played, that goes for Knoxville as well.
