bombed on smith, gordon(didnt give that one much of a chance anyways), and thomas

and dotson was released (dont know of the full story)

Cmon, even Buzz had a national TOP 10 class his first year

I don't think anyone will argue that it's not a good class but he did not have much time to get a whole lot done. We just have to hope that when he has a full year to work he can get some good players in here.

I can tell you that I believe him when he says he won't get outworked. And that is one thing I could not say about Buzz.

and how many of Buzz's first class turned out to be anything. Watson is the only decent player of the bunch.

Buzz also came in after the team was winning. None of them were really buzz's recruits. Oh yeah, and how did them recruits turn outby the way?? they were so good that they got buzz fired. It doesnt matter about rankings on a recruit. Dawane wade wasnt a big recurit out of college and look were he is now. Don't rip on Pearl because he let a few players go. Gordon can't even go to college this year because his grades are low, and Smith's dad is a complete ignorant @$$.

Pearl is a coach that runs a good system and when put in the system the players play very good. its a running offense and strong hard working defense. let the man coach a game before you star ripping the man. And please don't ever bring back up Buzz peterson being a better recruiter.

Exactly what was he suppose to do. He came in a bad situation and we all knew that if buzz got fired we would lose Smith and Gordon. Can't say he ain't doing the best he can. THe man is everywhere and from what I hear all the players like the man. So whats the problem. wait untill he gets a full season to get some recruits. then you can complain. Right now, I would just care about who we got. I mean he did convince lofton to stay. And thats worth more than any recruit we could have gotten this year.

I am going to save my judgement for next year. By the time Pearl added Edgar, everyone knew where they wanted to go. Give it a year or two, he will get some good guys...

Exactly, we havent even seen teh vols play a game yet. Let him do what he needs to do to get us to contenders.

its kinda funny. we must be the opposite of florida fans. ud think their football team has won the nc 3 years running with their new coach while our basketball team has lost every game for 3 years with our new coach.


how can we jump on pearl when we tell florida fans to quit bragging about um? neither have did anything to this point, lets give pearl at least a few games before we string him up.

its no joke......maybe you are too blind to see, but its impossible to compete in the SEC without sufficient talent

i can only hope that he coaches good enough to make us overachieve, because we surely cant win with talent alone

I think it's pretty much a given that Buzz didn't leave much for Pearl to work with and it's tough for any coach to jump into the recruiting process as late as Pearl did and have any success.

No idea, but I think everybody needs to just realize that anything over about 12-14 wins next year will be gravy. It's going to take at least a year to change the system and get the athletes that Pearl needs.

Simple Thomas's mother wouldn't come to UT which was a stipulation she put on his recruitment. Pearl wasn't going to wait, later it was found out she want to see what else was out there. She twice sit dates to visit UT and was a no show both times Pearl moved on. I applaud that move by Pearl.

Dotson's decided he wanted to sign a release. Dotson would not have more than the Bench his time at UT. He is not an SEC type player, good kid but he will not help you turn a program around.

call me a gloomy gus but thats why i focus on ut football more its because i know that ut basketball will suck for the near future hes right pearl is already sucking and he hasnt even played a game as bad as i hate to say it ut basketball is stuck and get use to it because it aint changing for a while should have never let buzz go yeah i said it

Buzz was pathetic, Yes I wanted them to keep him at first mainly to save money but he's gone and Pearl was handed a program with weak talent, a losing perception and a very short time to recruit with most of the big names gone. He hasn't even coached a game yet and you people want to get rid of him. Yeah your real fans alright!

OK and where did he get the talent for this fall. From BUZZ so don't blame him for Buzz's lack of talent evaluation. No one is blind but most reasonable people understand that it takes time where the program is at this point.

yes vols67 but as a fan im tired of hearing that with every new coach things will change face it ut will always be a football school and yes im a fan but i never said i was a huge fan of ut basketball im just tired of hearing things will change get someone with at least a little real name recognition im not buying the pearl hype at all

Can we instead call you brain dead? Pearl is doing what he thinks is best for this program, which is exactly what UT hired him for. And he has a track record to boot unlike the Buzzer who couldn't coach himself out of a paper bag and existed off of his predecessors talent at both UT and Tulsa.

As for recruiting, it is Pearl who is trying to undo the Division II talent that Buzz recruited. If you ever heard Buzz talk or converse with the media, you would know exactly why this program is currently where it is? He may have been even more brain dead than you!!

im brain dead your the one being told every other year that the savior of ut basketball is now here and you always fall for it all im saying is until pearl shows me something i wont worship him hes already showed me he cant recruit and i accept no excuses i guess thats why im a much bigger football fan much bigger
