I think we need to all calm down, take a deep breath and prepare for a battle. We have 6 games left, all SEC games, against tough teams.

LSU will be a slobber knocker. We will be lucky to win. They are seeking revenge and have a lot better team than GA.

Arkansas is good. Not great but still good. We will be tested by their running game and O-line.

South Carolina. What can you say here except SPURRIER. He owns Fulmer and we know it. Nothing is a given with him.

Bama is Bama. Great rivalry game that always tests us. We should be prepared well with the bye week though.

Vandy and Kentucky are both greatly improved teams.

Lets take this thing one game at a time. Yes we Dominated GA in the 2nd half, but we still have special team and defensive issues.

Put the NC stuff to rest for at least a few more games.

Hey, i just wanted to bring yall back to reality. sorry

It's not your job. :)

I think we need a new rule where we can be as unrealistic as we want on the weekend. We deal with enough discussion on Monday through Friday. On Sundays, we should be able to just be completely drunk with joy. :)

There is no reason not to be pumped about the Vols.

They are the best team in the SEC right now. The defense went a long way toward finding itself in the second half of the UGA game. The offense was incredible. I didn't buy the best in the nation blather and the 6.8 ppg was definitely inflated. Nonetheless, UGA is very talented on D. Probably more talented than UF.

This game revealed the development of this team. The line is gelling extremely well. The change at center was probably the biggest coaching move of the year. Coker has provided a spark and found his place on the team though I'd like to see him with the ball more. The Vols are good and deep at WR. Ainge has been nothing less than extraordinary.

The weaknesses right now are a concern but there aren't as many as there were before the UF game. The defensive tackles still aren't plugging up the middle or getting consistent penetration. The kick coverage was improved except for the two notable breakdowns. Wilhoit looked to have misplaced that kick that was returned. Prior to that, he was kicking them into the corner and the Vols had consistently pinned them inside the 20.

As I watch the other teams, including UF, there is none of them I would trade weaknesses with. LSU's self-destruction was of their own making, not UF's. Granted UF capitalized but the things that won the game for them were two critical and poor calls and some unforced errors by LSU.

LSU is undisciplined.
UF can't run it and has problems in the secondary when they don't get a rush.
Auburn suddenly can't throw or stop the run.
UGA... revealed.
USC is improving but aren't very good on offense.
Bama isn't playing o or d as well as they expected.
Ark can't pass.
UK can't run or play effective defense.
Vandy, Ole Miss, and MSU simply aren't very good teams.

The Vols are clicking in virtually every aspect of their offense. The defense took a major step forward in the second half. The special teams have made some great plays but still are making some critical errors. All in all, UT is currently the best team in the SEC and I'm not sure who in the country is playing much better.

I'm going to repeat this: The Vols are playing the best football in the conference right now. That may not be an enduring thing but I for one don't want your wet blanket... I'd like to enjoy it, thanks.

I think I've taken a realistic look at how UT compares at this point.

LSU better find some discipline before they play UT.
Arkansas won't be overlooked and doesn't have the talent on either side of the ball to beat UT if they aren't.
Bama isn't playing well at all... witness the Duke game and meltdown against Arkansas.

Spurrier "owns" Fulmer when he has better or at least equal talent... he doesn't this year... and I don't think he owns Cut or this particular Vol offense.

I am still concerned about LSU. They are still the most talented team in the conf but the Miles effect is taking hold sooner than I thought it would. Their play against UF was probably worse than anything UT did last year.

All the teams left on the schedule have enough talent to compete and beat UT if UT doesn't play well. But no one else should be competitive.

At this point if the attitude and focus stay on target, UT should finish 11-1 and play in the SECCG.

No one should be competitive??? That is funny right there.

I do love your optimism though.

Boy I hate to say it, but home games make me very nervous these days. It is a bizarre phenomenon, but home field advantage just doesn't mean what it should for us these days. Bama makes me nervous, LSU makes me VERY nervous...and so on. But I tell you what doesn't make me nervous, and that's our offense. I loved the somewhat rare assertive confidence Fulmer showed going into the locker room at the half last nite when he said, "I don't think they can stop us." But then of course, to stave off the perception of overconfidence, he quickly said, "I don't know if we can stop THEM." I agree with him; I genuinely do not believe there is a defense in the country that could shut down our offense for more than a series or two...NONE! Not as long as we're playing like we are now. This offense is lethal, and I'm telling you, the rest of our opponents have reason to be downright scared trying to defend us!

The team is very business-like. I say as long as they take care of business and keep that attitude each week and don't get cocky, good things can happen to them, maybe even a SECC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's see....Boss harping on us all week. Wife bitching at us all week. We finally reach Saturday and come away with a big win that causes us to jump for joy for a couple of hours and Charley wants us to come back to reality and settle down.
Hey Charley....:the_finger:

How's that for reality!

Even with all of the great feelings coming out of the GA game, it's still true that we have a very hard road ahead. Pick one and it could be tough: LSU, BAMA, SC, or ARK. All of those are losable games.

However, the two that scare me the most are LSU and ARK.

I still think Miles is mediocre, and that Russell stinks. But they are talented.

Arkansas will hit us where we are the weakest -- up front. They are a very physical team, and right now we are hurting up front on both sides. If they run it on us and play keep away, it wouldn't take too many miscues for us to lose that one. We won't always create turnovers and execute flawlessly in the passing game like we did against GA.

I'd say, if I had to bet my house, that it's 49-51 whether or not we win out -- to the negative. But who knows...
