Nice work, will be interesting to see how they compare next year with the Tennessee schedule..One thing that both teams have in common is they both failed to beat a ranked team. I believe the stats for UT under these new coaches will improve all around next season.

Am I misreading something or does that say UT was ranked 29th last year in passing defense? If that's truly the case the entire ranking system on what makes a good passing defense needs to be completely uprooted and they need to start from scratch.

It is hard to compare statistics for coaching without considering the players. I am totally convinced that I could have coached the 2012 'Bama team to at least double digit wins. It will be far more important to wait a couple of years and compare Butch Jones against the successful coaches at UT (and the not so successful). Winning in the "Big" East is a good sign. It doesn't spell instant success in the SEC ... yet, it can certainly lead to that success.

Defense will be better, book it. offense may be better in the running game than we think

Our D was at the bottom of the list in nearly all stats last year and can't get any worse showing only improvement. Everyone needs to remember that without a good OL, no offense will produce good stats. As it turns out, our OL is probably the best feature of the team this year. The D will be fine and the O will be fine, too. As far as the recruiting goes, sure we probably should have signed a few more players. bUTch and the gang will pick up a few more as time progresses. There are more good players yet unsigned who are available. I am looking forward to improvement in 2013. Go Big Orange

And apparently you still like them even if they have no particular meaning or context.

All I know is if we would have had any defense at all,we would have went 7-5,8-4 then a bowl game.

Part of me thinks Dooley hired sal knowing the transition on defense would cost him his job. He wanted out.

That's fair.

Also, it's fair to look at the difference in talent.

Consider this, consider that, it is pointless evaluation and comparison. Football season can't get here soon enough. I just hope that I don't wish it would end soon as in recent years (to stop the pain).

Why am I just now learning that CBJ has never beaten a ranked team? Didn't we just fire a guy for the same reason?

Butch Jones
2012
vs (13)Louisville lost 34-31
vs (22)Rutgers lost 10-3
2011
vs (17) West Virginia lost 24-21
2010
vs (9) oklahoma lost 31-29

It is not right to judge CBJ on his previous seasons good or bad.. The SEC is a different animal. He may do better or he may do worse. It all comes down to being able to recruit and then max out each recruits potential. Until then, there is no reason to not give him 100 percent of our support.

I guess there is no real point of these stats. I know cinci isn't in the SEC so comparing is hard. I was up last night with nothing better to do so I typed something up. Apologies to the ones who see this thread as nonsense.

At least he was competitive in those games. Dools' squads typically rolled over and played possum when they got behind.

lol....he lost to all four of those teams by a combined total of 15 pts. DD managed to lose to Vandy...1 game... a non ranked team...by more than that.

I call that instant upgrade.

Looks like an improvement on paper at least. I wonder what Cincy's stats would looked like had they played an SEC schedule.

one of those teams that put up a ton of yards on us was Troy, so that argument is invalid.
