Actual around the XL Center is not that bad actually...several cool bars and restaurants. I work downtown and parked close to XL last year. Hartford is trying to reclaim the downtown area and is doing a decent job.

I wanted to go to the game, but a few guys I work with said the games are not great for visiting fans and they hate TN due to Geno/Pat feud. Don't want to subject my wife to unruly fans.

In a better economic environment, my ideal choice would not have been Hartford.

I didn't have any bad experiences at all. But the arena was dead quiet, compared to TBA (which I'd never thought was particularly loud). And their videos were all borrowed from the era when Scotty Hopson's haircut was cool.
