I Love David Climer

He is also writing from a Nashville point-of-view. How much money do UT games add to the Knoxville economy? I would say it's a huge factor in keeping many businesses going. Can the same be said for Vandy athletics? Also, he failed to mention it is a self-funded dept. How many big-time programs are state-funded and how many are turning a profit?

The articles may be the truth, but it is not the whole truth.

He also failed to mention that even though Vandy is the worst team in the SEC, they get an equal share of all bowl revenues. How much would there Ath dept. make with out that welfare check?

he also mentioned, not in detail thought, the reason for the loan - Buzz'z buyout. Which was a rare lump sum payment instead of the 4 year payout. This problem has been address by the new contracts - no one will be ble to take a lump sum payment upon buyout of their contract. Someone posted on here not long ago with annual figures..it was shocking to see how many programs run that tight on their budgets but we are by no means the only ones.

GAVol, the article in itself is not that bad but it's filled with the same stabs and undertones that he is famous for. He writes about Tennessee frequently but rarely has anything positive to say.

Oh, I see . . . I don't get much David Climer action down here in GA.

Didn't see much of anything wrong or out of order with that article there. Sure, Climer is no UT shield, but he mostly tells it like it is. Is he a smartass? Yes, no doubt. I used to not like alot of things he had to say, especially when I was younger. But most of the time, he is right, whether we like it or not.

I have no problem with climer, really. He's certainly a far cry from John Adams.

td88 I can respect that and it's not like I think he is Paul Finebaum or anything but he reminds me of a bammer in that he always wants to report the negative about Tennessee. He seems to enjoy writing those types of articles (not saying it's not true). Even when he writes an article that appears positive on the surface I somehow get the feeling that it's full of backhanded slaps to the face.

Let's look at his last four articles on UT:

1. Vols Spend as much as they make - already mentioned above.
2. He wrote an article on Pearl and pumps him as the right guy for the job but is sure to point out all of the areas he has failed since he got here: Gordon, Smith, no headway in Memphis. He bashes Pearl in about the whole article and doesn't miss the opportunity to Bash DeVoe, Houston, O'Neil, Green, and Peterson in the process. At one point in the article he says that you could make the case that Tennessee would be better next year with Peterson as coach. Then the very last sentence tries to make it sound like he likes Pearl and UT when he says Pearl is the right guy for the job. -- Write a nasty article but finish with a compliment......sneaky.
3. Article on the orange and white game. This is actually the only article he has written recently that seems to have a positive theme. However, he does't miss the opportunity to throw in a couple of paragraphs about UT's off the field problems.
4. Article on the Acadmeic Progress System. This is not really even an article about Tennessee but he pulls in Fulmer and his "11 Vols in trouble" and all the "orange entries on the police blotter" and hints as to how he may not be hasty to suspend these guys with the APS penalties involved.

Come on, this guy is a wolf in sheeps clothing. It's obvious to me that he writes with an anti Tennessee agenda. Am I the only one that sees it? Am I just biased?

No, Climer has a little bit of sense, unlike Beano.

I wouldn't call him a Majors backer, either. He was on Majors during his tenure at UT like white on rice.

Yep, Lebanon High School.

Actually, not all that crazy, if you think about it. Lebanon is in middle Tennessee, about 30 minutes from Nashville.
