I Love Our Coach

We are fortunate to have CJH, at the helm. There is a lot of similarity in CJH, CRB, CTV, CKW, and CKC. They are all humble and are 100% invested in this University. The leadership is to be praised for making the right decisions. It makes it easy as a fan to hold your head high.

The players obviously love him also. The scene in the locker room after the OU was very telling. Nico giving him the game ball showed how much the team cares for him. It is amazing he has been able to keep all the D-linemen this year. I know UT lost Baron, but the rest stayed. RG had a lot to do with it, but CJH has a hand in it also. The D-line goes 12 deep and you can tell by their play and interaction they have a love for each other. They are my favorite unit right now.

Many coaches demand the best of their players. I believe Josh has managed to create a culture where players demand the best of themselves and each other.
That is how Saban won a lot. Not comparing Heupel to Saban at all, but Saban was religiously in favor of player led locker room culture with standards set by the leaders of the team.

Insider reports indicate that Saban pushed his leaders harder than anybody else, and the leaders drove the team. He had to step in sometimes to kick some butt, but it was up to the players to keep each other accountable.

All indication was Baron was a locker room liability and wasn't preparing with the same level of effort as the rest of the DL. Pearce became the new favorite in that group because of leadership and his unselfish play style.

It’s another testament to the depth of our defensive line that we could lose a guy like Baron, who like it or not is a very, very good defensive end, and kinda just shrug. Haven’t missed him.

Agree. The magic happens when a team is totally together and because of that, they demand the best of themselves because they don’t want to let down their brothers.

You can tell that this team is 100% bought into each other and—equally important—they are bought into their coaches. Its a really fun group to watch.

I credit Heupel’s ability to identify and hire outstanding coaches. Only wish we had Golesh back but that is what happens when you hire excellent coaches. Looks like Inge was the missing piece on the defense.

Read the replies, OMG

Thanks for sharing that. I really liked the hire. I wasn't over the moon but I know he would at least make our offense fun to watch again. I really wanted Mike Leach when we hired Pruitt. I believed Josh had the ability to make us great again but I had no idea he could do it as fast as he did. We were decimated and the laughing stock of CFB. What Heup has done is simply incredible and the best part is he's an awesome person too.

I thought JH would be a good stabilizing presence for a 5-7 year rebuild. I never thought he (or any coach) would have us in January football conversations this fast. It cannot be understated how bad our situation was. I will forever appreciate how Plowman, White, and Heupel saved our football program.
