Coming to the LSU game and will have some LSU friends in tow, yes friends albeit misguided, coming along from Baton Rouge where I now unfortunately live.

I need 2 bits of info....

1. A good place for Friday night food and drink (not the college crowd per se).

2. Where is a good place we can park and tailgate?? There will be probably about 4-5 cars.

I have told them, all of which have never been to Neyland, that VOL fans far outclass LSU fans (i.e. drunk cajun coon-a$$es). I want to make sure they see this for themsleves.

Looking forward to a good game with a VOLS victory so my life will have meaning in Baton Rouge.

Thanks to all that reply.

I'm in the same boat as you. We got two UT guys, three yankees, and a fat bastard who went to LSU. Should be fun. We were planning...

1. Friday night dinner at Regas or Calhoun's on the River, followed by drinks at Smoky Mountain Brewery on Gay Street. Good post-college crowd. Next door there is a cool bar in an old jewelery shop called Sapphire. I figure we will stumble in there as well. May end up in the Old City, but who knows?

2. There's always good tailgating pay lots in Fort Sanders. It is a lot easier than trying to park and tailgate on the Strip. Take the 17th Street exit off I-40 East, or the one after if it is choked up. Other than that, I will have to defer to the board. I usually just park and roam around to other peoples' tailgates. Its always fun to check out the tailgates down by the river as well. The Vol Navy is a must-see. That should also provide a good measure vs. BR tailgating... a tough contest.

Other dinner recommendations: Riverside Grill (by the W-BB HOF), Nama (for sushi), Ye Olde Steak House (a little drive down Chapman Hwy).

Afterwards, the Brewery and/or Sapphire will work. Preservation Pub and World Grotto in Market Square are also good options. You can actually walk between all of the above.

What's anyone's best guess for the game time? We looking at the 3:30 slot or the 7:30 slot?

I'll say UF-Vandy at 7:45, Arky-USC at 12, and UT-LSU at 3:30.

I'd SOOO prefer a night game.

With CBS casting a greedy eye at Tenn/Ark on Nov. 11, and given CBS does not usually run one team twice in a row, I'd say ESPN primetime for UT/LSU is a more likely bet.

But there is really no way of knowing this early....

Thanks for all the help.

I was at the game in BR last year and a drunk came out of the crowd and started humping my wife on the side walk.

When we scored the final points the stadium went silent and everyone was in shock.

Near west town mall on kingston pike I think in the 6000 block. The alley gets a little crowded but is a fun place. About 10 minutes out of downtown. I like the Brewery b/c I can walk home from there if needed. You should have a good time at either place. The crowd is post college for the most part in both bars.

I'm just not feeling the whole Sapphire thing.

I really like Sapphire. For those who haven't been, it's an old jewelry store converted to a groovy martini bar. They usually have a DJ with some low-level house music and it's a pretty good place to do some "people-watching." If you're looking for pool tables and cheap beer. . . not your place. But if you want to experience a little different side of K-town, give it a try.
