Is Mays going to play? If he plays, I predict that we will run for over 250 yards. He stabilizes the OL. If we control the LOS (we will on defense for sure) I think we will get a proper revenge for last year. I will settle for a victory but I think he will make that much of difference. I think Milton does very well if he doesn't have to worry about linemen getting free runs at him from the center/guard position. If he plays, I think we win big. If not, it could be a heart attack game.

Game time decision, as always.

I also have one big concern, too. Just having trouble picking it. Rattler, our secondary, our OL, Milton, our tackling....can we do multiple choice instead??

At this point Mays has missed so much time do we honestly think he'll be in game shape immediately? I don't know. We need him to start working back in obviously as soon as possible, but there is liable to be some real rust the first time or two out.

Good point. It's probably impossible to stay in football shape with injuries like he had. You physically can't work out. Obviously if he does play, he'll be limited.

With "all of the above" or at least some combinations as one option.

Is Mays a concern? Yes. A huge one? The biggest one? Not even close. The buggiest issue and concern is our defense. Can we stop Rattler from torching our terrible secondary? Because if not, it doesn’t matter how healthy Mays is.

When has he ever done well? I think whether he gets time or not he’ll do what he always does…miss a few wide open wrs on total defensive breakdowns, run directly into a defender a time or two even though there’s a giant hole right in front of him through a different gap than the one he chooses, throw a few low percentage long passes on third and 4 even when he could easily have kept it and run to keep the chains moving, and make a few accurate passes to finish with decent looking stats. It’ll be a very JG like performance.

Separately, I actually feel the line has done a good job with pass protection most of the time this year. I don’t recall feeling like joe was getting hit all the time in any of the games this year. I’m not sure where the narrative that the line is bad is the reason Milton isn’t good. But again…we heard the same all the time when JG was qb here.

The real question is:

Is Cooper Mays, Cooper Mays?

Given the hernia repairs, his weight room activity has probably been severely limited. Not sure the exact date of the procedure but I’m guessing it’s probably been at least two months since he’s been able to deadlift, power clean, or squat heavy.
