I seriously doubt that...

Your AD will go after anybody who is considered damaged goods by the NCAA or somebody with a shady past. I seriously doubt that he will go after a coach who has had a show-cause placed on them or somebody who has stepped down or been fired from their job. With that being said, I highly doubt that you will see Tressel, Butch Davis, Petrino, etc. on your sidelines. JMO

I think that it is just as important for UT to restore their name and reputation as it is to improve in the win/loss column.

I have been there as a Kentucky fan anxiously waiting to see who our new coach would be. I think sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees and these are times when that happens. We fixate ourselves on people who will more than likely not come, expecting instant success when they aren't even guaranteed that considering nobody knows how their past is going to effect their future.

That being said, don't just look for somebody who is going to simply win alone. Look for somebody who can lay out a blueprint for success and someone who is going to put UT back into the place that when Tennessee is mentioned- people respond to it with respect.

Petrino has no NCAA issues. "Integrity" may eliminate him depending on what Hart meant by that.

I think Butch Davis is fair game if the NCAA has cleared him of anything to do with the UNC stuff. His resume is about as strong or better than most any realistic candidate on the board IMO.

Well, since history shows that a coach who is fired from one major school and hired by another almost never works out well, I'd prefer we didn't hire any retreads or damaged goods.

Solid post man! People in Lexington seem to be really happy about your recent hire? Either way, I agree 100%

To me I think you would have to be crazy if you were an AD putting a coach like that into a program that is already on probation. My God could you imagine how hard the NCAA would come down on you'all if they were to get you in trouble?!?!

Guess I'm missing that perception. I was under the impression CDD did a pretty good job restoring respect and integrity to the program after Kiffin left. He just didn't restore the respect on the field. I agree with an earlier post...winning will restore respect.

And you see where thy respect and integrity got him....fired. Just win baby.

Fisher
Davis
Tressel
Petrino

Our next coach will be one of those 4. I prefer Fisher, but would be OK with any of them.

Threads like this crack me up. America is the country of second chances, why would college football be any different.

I guess the OP is as clean as fresh snow.

If Gruden really is 100% out I hope Dave is going after Tressel. I'd risk one year. Only name out there with a national title.

I agree hes the only on oir there that has a ring, and by all accounts is an excellent recruiter. Id rather not have him for for 5 games then have a third tier coach for the next 3 years.

Seems ironic to get advice on hiring a football coach with integrity from a basketball school that hired Calapari
