I think Mashack

could develop into a beast of a player. He’s super athletic and unafraid to go to the rim. That’s something we’ve lacked at times is a slasher type that can put it on the floor and take it to the basket when our offense stalls.
Agreed
Strong, quick, aggressive.
Good for him. He’s paying his dues.

He's aggressive on both ends of the floor, and he doesn't hesitate near the basket. He's a very quick leaper, and that allows him to get his shot off before defenders can react.

This would be a really nice lineup for next year :
Aidoo
Olivier/Awaka
Mashack
Philips
Edwards/ZZ

Would just about equal this year's team.

JP is not finishing above the rim.

Only counting dunks is a very narrow view of "going to the rim with authority" and, while Jahmai's dunk yesterday was sweet, I'm not even sure Jahmai has more dunks this season than Julian. I think we can agree both players game thus far has emphasized attacking the paint vs. shooting jump shots or 3's. Therefore, free throw attempts should be a good indicator of who is initiating contact and attacking the paint. For this stat, Julian leads the team and is WAY ahead of Jahmai (9.5 vs. 2.2 on a per 40 min basis).

Edit: This is not to say I don't love what Jahmai has been serving up to go along with his mentality for the game and athleticism...I think he is really going to make some big plays for us this season at key moments.

JP tries to finish off the window more often than not resulting in blocked shots and a trip to the FT line. I would like to see him getting there to finish the 3 pt play.

Wow, that lazy, playing out the string coach we have LUCKED into another one. OH... I think the saying is Tennessee recruits itself... at least on some of the other boards for other sports.

GO VOLS....

I know it's very unlikely, but what if everybody eligible to come back wanted to come back - plus the 4 signees. Who would get run off?

I always like to see our players finish through contact so I definitely agree JP can/will learn to be even stronger when attacking the rim. I guess I just do not see the supposed disparity you do between him and Jahmai when going to the rim but agree to disagree. GBO!
