I think the DC should start with the DL and experiment with personnel until he finds a group that consistently gets penetration and especially up the middle.
Most of us were optimistic that McCullers was going to get coached up and become disruptive. For awhile, it looked good. The debacle that is the last 3 games for this D starts with him being driven 8 yards off the ball on run plays and being lost on passing downs. It is time for that experiment to end. There are other DT's on the team that will at a minimum not stand up at first contact. You have Marlon Walls and Miller who have the size to play DT, experience playing DT, and some quickness that might make them harder to block.
At this point ANYTHING would be preferrable to watching OL's push UT's DL 5-10 yards off the ball making it IMPOSSIBLE for the back 7 to make a play at or near the LOS.
