The Big 10 (+2) didn't end up with Texas or Notre Dame

The Big XII (-2) lost a traditional power and a large media market, while the entire conference is even more estranged towards Texas. They also will possibly lose their CCG.

The Pac 10 (+1) picked up a nice media market but is stuck with an odd number and will probably be forced to grab a less than ideal 12 member.

The SEC was the best conference before and still is.

Did we ever want A&M? Probably not. I think did Mike Slive whisper silliness in the ear of Texas' little brother so that he would start a fight which resulted in Dad (Texas Legislature) stepping in and stopping the whole thing.

The big winner here is Texas. They played everyone and got everything they wanted:

Texas TV (check)
A better cut of revenue (check)
No conference championship game (check and added bonus)
Getting rid of Nebraska (check)
***Total Control of media perception (check)

Texas caused all of this, yet they've been hailed as the savior of the Big 12
Texas said they declined the invitation to the PAC, nothing could be further from the truth. Please read the following:

I think perception-wise that Texas U is a huge loser. The biggest money maker in college sports got even more greedy and about ruined a good conference. I am honestly shocked that A&M, Oklahoma, et al. put up with their sh*&. I never really had a problem with Tejas U., but now they will right there with USC on my teams I love to hate list (outside of the SEC, that is).

Only if you really followed the process. The media is already saying that Texas saved the day, which is total BS. I'm with you, every game they lose will be a joy, and I've become an Aggie fan too. They stood up, the fans are really disappointed that the power brokers let them down, again. There are quite a few Sooner fans that aren't happy too.

The media in the mid-west is not portraying Texas as saving the day.

I went through this whole thing hoping the SEC would stay the same, but I'll have to admit that I got excited about A&M.

Texas is the undisputed winner. They caused it, yet end up with more money, their own network, and with no conference championship they have a cakewalk into a BCS game every year.

The Pac-11 is the big loser. Thought they had Texas, OU, OSU, and TTech all ready to roll. They basically just added another mouth to feed that doesn't bring much to the table other than one of the best college cities to visit.

The Big 12ish is a pretty big winner here. Cut the fat in basketball. Actually, the conference RPI goes up by losing the Nubs and Colorado. Most teams just doubled their football TV revenue as well.

In basketball, the conference is stacked; kU, K-State, Mizzou, Texas, Oklahoma, and Baylor. Not even counting ATM and OSU, who add some quality to the conference. It's on par with ACC b'ball where nobody is really bad.

Oh, and the rest of the conference gets to split up Nebraska and Colorado's exit fees. Free money.

Boise could be another loser if TCU and Utah jump ship from the Mtn West to the Big 12ish and Pac-11. Will the BCS Committee be willing to dole out an additional bid now that they aren't replacing the B12's?

Probably a good move. Then Utah can actually compete for a BCS championship, which they deserve. I still remember them spanking Alabama.

Winners

Big 10 gained a traditional football power and now has an even number of teams. I haven't seen it's expansion aspirations are over, by the way

Nebraska now has a much better TV revenue stream

Remaining Big 12 schools will get a large bump in TV money

Marginal Winners

PAC 10 will likely get enough teams to add a championship game (if that's what it wants) and gains Denver market

Non-Winners/Losers

SEC didn't do anything except get turned down by Texas A&M

Not if they add a 12th team and cash in on a championship game.

They don't have that 12th team, and maybe it was one of the thousands of reports out there, but wasn't Larry Scott trying to nix the CG idea anyway? I bet Utah or Colorado State would jump at the idea of a Pac 10 invite, but looking at what they had in mind--The Big 12 South and a fat TV deal with their own network-- Utah/CSU and Colorado aren't going to get that done.

. . . but isn't this really one of those times when failure still equals success? The idea that the Pac 10 almost raided the Big 12 south and caused the Big 12 to collapse would be ludicrous if it wasn't true. They aimed high and at the very least ended up with the Denver TV market. Not bad IMO.

A&M had Texas by the cahones and then all of a sudden gave up. I went on a couple of Aggie boards and 99.9% of those people wanted in the SEC. SEC fans flooded their boards and welcomed them with open arms and got them pumped for what SEC life was all about. Then when the news came about them staying under Texas rule in the Big 12, i had never saw such a pi**ed off fan base in my life.

Winners

Texas got everything it wanted and then some.

Nebraska gets out from under Texas and into the Big 10.

Utah since they will more than likely be the 12th team in the PAC. Something they have wanted for a while now.

Losers

Larry Scott will be lucky to remain the PAC commish after he got punked by Texas.

A&M fans that thought they were on their way to the SEC.

I thought A&M, MU, Tx and OU would be SEC bound. UN and CU out of the picture, the Big 12 in shambles. It only made sence. Maybe not.

@GAVol- I guess I'm not understanding where the failure = success in this thing for the Pac-11. The Mtn West was trying to raid the B12N teams to stack their conference for a BCS bid too. Are they winners?

I mean, the Pac-10 is a good conference in all sports, and has high academic standards, so it isn't a huge surprise that the two conferences that are striving to create a CG (B10 and Pac 10) would be all over it. Scott wouldn't allow Texas to print it's own money (Bevo Network), and that cost him in the end.

Not sure if you've been to Boulder. GREAT college town, but the people of Denver couldn't care less about the Buffs or college sports. It's all Broncos, all the time. Even when the Buffs are good. I'm sure Larry Scott will sell Denver as a market, but, really, the Buffs aren't a player in town.

Relative to the "bump" Texas is getting? Not even close.

Orangebloods.com - Remaining schools in Big 12 close to saving league

According to sources, the deal will mean more money for Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, who all stand receive $20 million from the new deal. The other seven schools in the Big 12 would make between $14 million and $17 million, but would nearly double what they currently receive in TV revenue (roughly $7 million to $9 million).

I'd call that a win for everyone.
