Will our record be as bad as some think? The weakest SEC in over a decade says no.

New QB's at Alabama and UGA say no.

The loss of two great defensive lineman and a future all-pro WR at Missouri say negative sir.

James Franklin at PSU says naw, dog.

UK being well...UK - says nah.

Ole Miss never (and I mean never) living up to expectations when rightly bestowed upon them says an emphatic no.

A new QB, one tired ball coach, and the loss of maybe the best DE in SEC history at USC say nope!

Carry on, VolNation. Carry on.

The thing that bothers me is this-- what would we say about another team that had to replace both their OL and their DL? We would say they were in for a long year. I guess what I mean is we overhype the negatives for other teams and we ignore the negatives for our beloved Vols.

I still say 7-5 and win our bowl game

I still say 7-4

That's not enough games

The new Q.B. at "O Bama" should not be a major issue. When you have a strong defense, special teams and all of the other positions on offense are good, then you can make do until your q.b. grows in to the position around mid season.

I remember a Tennessee team that had Tee Martin at Q.B. The q.b. coach/ offensive coordinator, David Cutcliffe had little confidence in Martin. So, for the first few games, he spoon fed Martin and would not really let him take any risks.

That Tennessee team won all of there games, until the offensive coordinator finally became confident in Martin. The running game, the defense and the special teams were strong enough that they managed to win all of their games while waiting for Martin to grow in to the position.

Saban will have "O Bama" doing well again this season.

Also, there may be a "Surprise" S.E.C. team this season. One that exceeds our predictions!! Ya never know......

The S.E.C. is not in a bad position by any means.

OK. So in your post you quote Mizzou, Ole Miss, Vandy and UK as Exhibits A-D as to why the SEC will be down? Your joking, right?

I will give you Bama and UGA are big boys but have you seen the recruiting assembly line they both have? Give me a break. And the ole ball coach, well, under estimate him at your own risk.

Terrible analysis. Stick to your day job scrubbin' crappers.

No mention of LSU, aTm, Aub or UF? Those are some pretty tough teams to beat on any given Saturday - especially at their house.

Jagermeister makes we think the SEC is weak
Warm Budweiser makes think the SEC is strong.
Warm BudLight makes me think our Vols will win the SECeast.
Cold BudLight makes me think Vols will pull off 6-8 wins.

Even if the SEC is down this year... so are we

We have the talent pooring in, but they are going to need some experience before they perform..

Unless you are a RB or maybe WR.. you do not come out of high school and kick the crap out of everyone else in the SEC, I don't care how good you are or will be. It takes a season to get to know the rest of the teams in the SEC and for your mind and body to get used to the speed and strength the SEC offers that you are not going to see in ANY highschool in the world.

I honestly can see this team going anywhere from 9-3 to 5-7. It all depends on how fast our freshman can get the game to slow down for them so they can think instead of reacting off of only instinct. And then the biggest ?, Has Worley improved as much as what we have heard.. or was that smoke being blown up our arse in order to get people to buy tickets?

If everything comes together they could have a seriously magical season and be on the cusp of making the SEC championship game. Or our lack of experienced players and not having a QB who can perform could give us another one of those seasons where we break the records that we do not want to break.. Like worst season in school history lol.

We wont know until we see them hit the field in that first game of the season. Even if we win, it could still tell us we are in for a long year. And on the other hand, a loss against Ok could still put the SEC on notice that they better mind their P's and Q's when they play us or we will take advantage and woop dat arse.

Just too many unknowns at this point...

Vanderbilt won't win an SEC game this year and will sign the worst class from any of the big 5 conferences next Feb....It's not possible to underestimate what a joke they are.

UK and Vandy will be our SEC wins. Mizzou is a coin flip. The rest are losses. let's go 6-6 and move on.

Take it right now and move on to 15, and that's when we can win 8 or 9 games plus get another top 10 recruiting class and finally in 16. we will be kicking azz, including putting a beat down on the washing powder team, that's what I am looking forward to, the day we take the almighty tide to the wood shed and put a azz kicking on them like they have not had for awhile, I hate them SOBs till the day I die and beyond, FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF BAMA and the horse they rode in on, I hate them FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFER.:banghead2:

Mizzou and UF will determine the difference in a winning season or another losing season beating both and it's 7-5 with a trip to the Gator Bowl.

I refuse to accept that we do not have a chance to win Florida and UGA...and USC for that matter..

Not saying they are definite wins.. but those three games could easily put us into the 9-3 catagory.

Every one of those teams will be worse then they were last year.. we will be a good deal better..

We beat USC and came an inch away from beating UGA. And Florida will suck again..

So we could easily win all three, just as we could still lose them.. but we have a chance, So I am just not ready to just call it 6-6 and go on.

I just have a feeling our guys will surprise the rest of the country this year, and set the tone for next year

I don't remember another SEC defensive end who was the consensus pre season national defensive player of the year followed up by being the #1 pick. And he did say MAYBE the best.

That, and Reggie was actually more dominating in the NFL than he was in college.

White had 16 sacks in the last season before his first retirement, when he was 38 years old! He came out of retirement a year later, at age 40, and had 5.5 more sacks in 16 games. Amazing feats.

I am sorry, but if we are basing "the best" on actual production, clowney isn't close to the best. I mean that seriously.

Clowney had the occasional jaw dropping play. For all that talent, that's about it.

I never even saw Clowney take over a game. And I have seen several SEC defensive lineman (several at Florida alone) take over a game and be one man wrecking crews.

I don't think South Carolina misses a heck of a lot in losing Clowney. I think if you gave Spurrier the choice between having Connor Shaw back or Clowney, he'd take Shaw.
