1. GEORGIA STATE at ALABAMA
WHEN: Nov. 20
THE BUZZ: This will be Georgia State's first season of football, meaning the Panthers undoubtedly will be the worst team to ever set foot on the turf at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Georgia State's coach is Bill Curry, who used to be the head man at Alabama (a lot of Tide fans don't remember him all that fondly, either). The paycheck that comes with this beatdown obviously will come in handy for Georgia State. But the defending national champs playing a first-year program - and this late in the season? Yikes.

IDAHO STATE at GEORGIA
WHEN: Nov. 6
THE BUZZ: Idaho State has had back-to-back one-win seasons and has had just four winning records in the past 20 seasons. The Bengals have played 11 FBS opponents since 2000 and lost by an average of 32 points per game, including two setbacks last season by a combined 111 points.

and must we not forget...

Appalachian State at Florida on Nov. 20.

No chance for another upset here. Appy's not been quite as good the last couple of years, and now Armanti Edwards has graduated. They'll still be a pretty good FCS team, but they're not going to hang with the Gators.

It's still better than playing Jawja State. Alabama should be ashamed and Bill Curry must be a masochist.

Bill Curry did a great job for Bama to agree to play them. The money they will get for that game will go a long way to further their upstart program

Funny thing about the article and referencing Bama probably not "fondly" remebering Curry, but best I can recall without looking it up, he and Ray Perkins both did well before Stallings came in, and they basically ran all 3 off in time, whether short or long term.

Eh, it's viewed as a in-state battle, not a cupcake game. If we were to schedule GA State, it'd be different. In state just looks like we're trying to get around the state, since we already play memphis and vandy.

ut vs. ut martin is an in-state battle in the same way that ga vs. ga southern or fla vs. fla atlantic is an in-state battle. the only difference is that utm is actually a branch of the university they're playing. it's a game meant for an easy win.

A cupcake is a cupcake, regardless of what state they're in.

UT playing UTM is no different than UF playing The Citadel or App State. It's a made to order victory, plain and simple.

Just about every BCS school has one or two OOC breathers on its schedule.

No big whoop.

That's where you are wrong. When you do it, you're wrong. When we do it, it's an in-state battle. Come on man.

I'm pretty sure this is the first time UT will play a FCS school since the SEC split, and it's only because a team(NCST?) pulled out.

Congratulations?

First off, your in-state rival is Vanderbilt. Trust me, if Bama, UGA and UF could schedule Vandy twice in a season they would.

Secondly, UT has to play a national schedule for recruiting purposes. It's hard to give you credit for playing a mediocre UCLA team you lose to half the time.

Lastly, schedule smack is for losers. Everyone has a cream puff or two on the schedule, whether it's UAB, Western Kentucky, The Citadel, FAU, FIU, App State, and so on.

Your first point is pointless. You schedule FSU, and we always have a good OOC opponent. Pretty even, only difference is we have to leave the state occasionally. How you took my post as trying to talk smack, I'm not sure.

The OP questioned Bama and UF getting a breather before their in-state rival game.

Your breather IS your in-state rival game. Kinda hard to throw stones at anyone's schedule imo....that was my point.

As for the smack comment, it wasn't directed as you as much as the OP.
