I understand we had a bad game but Lsu 27 point win means nothing?

We both have two losses . We lost by 25 to South Carolina but beat LSU by 27 at their stadium. We played Georgia lost, but top ten LSU Alabama. Still to me impressive resume with an outside shot at playoffs. Unrealistic? I guess timing is everything.

The game was effectively moved to a neutral site after the opening kickoff and ensuing punt return that lead to two early scores. Their crowd never got back in the game, and the initial gut punch was too much for their players to overcome emotionally.

It means zero now, we would def not beat them if we played again. We caught them before they got their feet under them.

LSU has a chance to win the SEC title. Tennessee couldn't beat a 6-4 scrub. Tennessee is done as far as playoffs go.

If we somehow stay in the Top 10 (9 or 10 spot), we need absolute chaos. However with Hooker gone, I am not sure CFP would push us up if chaos happened... I'm not sure Bama would drop below us if the following happened with Hooker being gone.

  • TCU losing this week or next
  • LSU losing in Atlanta
  • USC dropping a game this week or next
  • Clemson dropping a game this week or next

A blowout loss to an unranked opponent this late in the season puts Tennessee lower than an LSU team that has bounced back and is on a 5 game win streak. There is little doubt that LSU is playing much better football than they were when we played them and with the loss of Hendon; LSU would be favored over us head to head.

The rankings make sense given the changing landscape.

LSU losing to a good ranked Tennessee team, looks a lot better than Tennessee losing to an unranked USCE led by a QB that only had 8 passing TDs on the season until Saturday.

It will look even worse after Clemson embarrasses them on Saturday.

If we would have beat bama and lsu now and lost to SC and Georgia at the beginning of the season we would still be ranked five.

It's a long shot but it's possible we get in. TCU still has two losable games and TCU makes sure all of their games are losable. Clemson still has two more potential loses. USC still has a conference championship game.

Georgia, Michigan, and Oh St are all in. We are fighting with those teams for 4th.

Like it or not Bama has a better shot than us. They’re ahead of us and lost 2 games on the road by 4 pts on the very last play of the game. We’ve lost 2 games by 40 points. It’s over.

Neither you nor I know that as a fact. We still have a chance.

I'm not sure I'd want to be in the CFP without Hooker. Let Mile-high Milton start against Vandy and bowl-team and prepare for '23. If UT wins out, an 11-2 season is beyond anyone's imagination in early August. We would probably start '23 ranked 10-15th.

We should still be ranked ahead of LSU and Alabama. Alabama has almost lost many games. We won the head to head. And blowing out LSU should counter act the SC game which was a fluke more than likely.

Yes, its all about what have you done for me lately. Getting blown out by a lower level SEC team is not acceptable to the committee, and should not be.

LSU will get in if they run the table along with a USC and TCU loss. All of those must occur and I wouldn’t have a problem with it as LSU would’ve knocked off the #1 team in a high-pressure championship game. TN choked against a subpar USCjr team and obviously couldn’t handle the entire environment.

It’s as certain as one can be. A 2 loss team who didn’t even make their championship game, whose losses are by 40 combined points is not getting in. If we wind up behind Bama tomorrow night (which is almost certain) there’s no way to jump them with 1 game to go against a mediocre Vandy team.

Behind tongiht doesn’t equal behind in a few weeks
