I was reading the January 12th issue of ESPN the magazine (I know my first mistake) and there is an article with Tebow and it has somewhat made me change my mind...He states that Brandon James has his # as they played each other in high school all 4 years and every game played James took a kick back for a td...In the last game when they were seniors, James had already taken one back and Tebow's coach put him in on coverage to stop him and he did just that...He stated it was bittersweet though because his team lost that game all 4 years..."I was like Peyton Manning vs. Florida"....

I wanted to PUKE!!!!

there is nothing Peytonistic about Tebow. But Peyton never did beat FL, but he is doing pretty good in his new gig.

I agree...He can not hold Peyton's jock now but in college that is different...I still can not stand it!!:cray:

I wouldn't make much of that comment...
I think it's a poor choice for comparison, but basically he's just trying to say "never could beat those guys over 4 years"...

I'm sick of all the "tebowtebowtebowtebow" that spews forth from gary danielson and verne lundquist who have an obvous man-crush on the guy ("hey verne, you know what tebow had for breakfast this morning?")...

That aside, I wish he'd been QBing for us over the past couple of years because I think he's good. I think he's got good character and I think he handles himself pretty humbly in the media. He's a leader and I don't see how anybody could argue that point.

I take no offense at his Peyton comparison comment, but YMMV.

To hell with the rest of the SEC. I hope Oklahoma monkey-stomps on Tebow and the Gators all night long.

I take zero pleasure in seeing other SEC teams succeed. If you're on UT's schedule, you're the enemy.

Exactly. Let Tennessee earn it's own wins, and quit cheering for rivals to carry the conference flag.

I think if you ever saw a Buckeye fan walking around in a t-shirt that said "Back-to-Back National Champions 2007-2008", you might start pulling for the conference.

I could not agree more. GBO!

You obviously don't know any Sooner fans...

If an Alabama fan and an Arkansas fan had a baby, it would be a Sooner fan.

I agree with other posts on here. I am sick of hearing these commentators slurp on Tebow. The guy has done well with how he has conducted himself while in college. However, I think it is funny he went into full backtrack mode when he made his statment about playing Big 12 defenses.

That's because he served Tebow breakfast in bed.

Hear you, and it brings me no joy to see florida fans happy... but I disagree.

I think the perceived strength of the SEC helps us all in the long run. Case in point, the 2 loss LSU team that won the national title last year.

Heh, I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree. I post on an NCAA football forum in addition to this one, and the Oklahoma fans on there are absolutely unbearable. Abeachvol posts there too, he can tell you about it. I really couldn't stand listening to them if they won, especially since they and the rest of the big 12 fans were talking so much smack about how awesome they were, and how the current incarnation of the b12 was the best conference of the past, present, and future, etc etc.

I was REALLY conflicted when Texas played Ohio State, because I hate Ohio State and the big 10 (because it is like a high school conference). I wanted to see the big 12 get dreamcrushed after all that smack talk this season, but I really never want Ohio State to win a game. Ever. The feeling was very similar to the same one I get when Ohio State and Michigan play (which was amplified tenfold in 2006). I really just hope for a meteor to hit the stadium.

So, that said. Go Gators. I'd have loved to see a USC-UF NC game. Two of the fastest, and probably best, teams in the nation going head to head would have been exciting.

I am a fan of Peyton when he played for the Vols, but how many NC rings does Tebow have and how many does Peyton have? Tebow can talk all he wants about Peyton the "college QB."

I live in Kansas. You just have to hear them on a message board. I have to physically see flags, and mullets.

I hate to say it, but I actually hope Florida wins tonight b/c of all the talk this year on how the Big 12 is the toughest conference in the country.

What he said; I have been far too happy to see ohio state get tallywhacked by sec teams the past two years...

I miss the good ol' days....say 1998-99....when the National Champion had a perfect season and no argument could be made for any other team to have even the slightest piece of the championship pie. These teams tonight are playing for the #2 ranking in my book. Rick Reilly makes a good case if you haven't read it:
