I was all for Strong being our head coach but.........

I was so sad when I woke up and found out Butch Jones to be our head coach.

I was expecting some NFL or big fancy name.

But I have been researching Butch and the more I read the more I love the hire.

This guy beat Strong 2/3 times. (almost 3/3 QB made some bad bad plays in the lose.)

He beat Vandy at last years bowl game.

He beat Vtech.

He beat Pittsburgh. (Pitt almost beat ND in overtime)

Beat UCONN. (Which Strong and his team lost too.)

Beat NC State.

He has won Big East 2/3 times.

Voted coach of the year in Big East

What he has been able to do with lackluster talent, has been amazing.

I can give you many reasons why some fans didn't want Strong, but I don't want to start a riot. Be careful what you don't wish for.

I'm fully behind CBJ but I don't see how this point belongs here. Pitt lost to an FCS team this year as well and them almost beating ND shouldn't mean jack squat, especially to a UT fan because we know the feeling of almost winning a lot of games.

I can understand why people reacted with some anger. We have sucked for too long (twts). Frustration is at it's peak. Hopes were high. If not for Gruden, then for another big name to get us front page on ESPN and get the hype machine going. Well, obviously, it didn't happen. However, it's done.
The man wanted the job to coach for us. The others didn't. Honestly, I didn't like Gundy or Strong. I think Butch can win as many games here as them, and am excited that we are finally adapting to college, and now pro (rg3) offenses that can use the whole field and keep you in football games as long as Sal Sunseri isn't back there putting your worst db on their best wr on 3rd down, repeatedly. I knew little of CBJ, other than word of mouth and stated records, conference, etc. But I talked to some people outside of our little bubble. I read Mort. I see Peyton texted him. Peyton just doesn't text people for the hell of it. Then I watched some videos. Then I see what Cincy is saying about him. Then I hear "player coach" from some in the know. Then I see his presser and can tell he is nervous and that means he is excited and scared and that's a damn good thing sometimes.
Then I remeber how I felt when Dooley was hired and I didn't see those things. I saw wit and sarcasm, and hoped. Well, I'm hoping here too, but I'm more excited than I was 3 years ago. Yeah, poo poo that if you want, but that's how I prefer to look at things. I suppose I could say he won't make it and repeat it for a couple years and complain the whole time, but that's what the weak minded do. It's easy to point out the negative in any situation. It takes perspective to find the positive. So what am I know for this view? A BJ slurper?
