the eric mclain situation has me confused. It just doesn't make sense with Dooley's TE favored offense.

Thurman = Fall back option

A top 250 guy is a fall back but Kerbyson and Posey (not in top 250) aren't?

OTH...I'm pretty surprised Thurman is on there to begin with...I guess those UF offers really are worth their weight in gold

Yes. Posey and Kerbyson are both better than Thurman.

That's my general opinion based on what I've read and video I've seen...

It's amazing how a kid that's pretty much considered a 2nd tier prospect can get such a high rating by one of the most respected services out there

Yeah it's pretty crazy.

Watts Dantzler is also missing from the top 250. I am wondering why we just don't take them all. We are going to have room.

Until he proves me wrong, I'm going to actually believe in Harry Hiestand since he's proven many times over that he can develop OL! If Hiestand sees something in those kids and Gooch, I'll trust his eye until he gives me a reason not to.

Gooch is not valued that highly by the staff. He was taken for depth only. Any quality he provides will be a bonus.

I respectfully disagree. First of all, you don't offer a player if you don't value his services. That's a slap-in-the-face if you sign a player with no intentions of him becoming a better player (maybe your "Any quality he provies will be a bonus" is a little ambiguous to me). Second, I don't agree with your "depth only" comment. We don't have a starting, true center. I would not consider Gooch just depth. I would rather him come in and play under our circumstances than rely on a converted center with no experience, at all.

I think the staff has brought him in with every intention of Gooch competing for the starting center position. That is, however, unless we sign a highly-touted player such as Luatua who can make an impact early. I also expect our group of coaches to be better at developing and coaching up players that UT's program has not seen for the past few years.

TFWIW, it's just my opinion.

MacLain is a player. Of course, after he goes elsewhere, half the board never wanted him.

Kerbyson >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Thurman

I'll take offers from UT, USC and Bama over a higher ranking by 4 guys who probably never played a down of football.

I think alot of people are discounting the impact a good offensive line coach can have.

But hee duzn't bleed arnge. He sux.

dont worry SGM, i found this comment to be humorous and accurate. most people on here get so butthurt when someone commits elsewhere, despite having had avatars and signature qoutes of them for the previous 11 months.
