Snow Storm Economics: Does Winter Weather Stimulate Economy? - ABC News

But experts say this month's storms, with their "historic'" proportions, are ultimately a net negative for taxpayers, who foot the bill for snow cleanup and the lost productivity of more than 230,000 idle federal employees. Official Washington was shut down for a third straight snow day -- unprecedented in recent times.
Office of Personnel Management chief John Berry, who decides when to close the federal government, has said each snow day costs taxpayers an estimated $100 million in work government employees don't do.

Thoughts other than taxpayers are coming out ahead, I mean, this is only costing us 100 million a day. Think of all the savings taxpayers are having with these fools not wasting billions a day!

Touchdown!

A gross overestimate. I seriously doubt federal employees do $100 million worth of actual work every day.

"Incredible," said Anthony Bishop of Valley Crest landscapers in Clarksburg, Md., whose business is plowing driveways instead of mowing lawns this time of year. "We've had to bring back our seasonal guys who are normally off this time of year."

Bishop says he employs 80 to 100 workers, who have been earning significant overtime pay to shovel walks, run snowblowers and operate plows across the Washington metropolitan area.

I think I prefer Mother Nature's idea of who should be working and who shouldn't.

Blizzard freezes Washington, but does anyone really care? - Yahoo! News

Here's what we're really getting for $100 million/day.

Back-to back storms have turned snow day in the nation's capital to snow week. Federal agencies have been closed since Friday afternoon, the House of Representatives and the Senate have canceled all votes and the endless stream of luncheons, congressional hearings, press conferences and cocktail parties — the lifeblood of political Washington — is frozen.

Yeah, I was wondering if I would get bored with it. You know the mandatory 30 to 120 days over seas and all.

Incrediable pay hike, from what we were told they are hurting for bodies.
