what people think about two guys that are reveered on this site: Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier.

all these two have done over the past 5 weeks is go 0-9. both with division title shots on the line.

in the interest of "they remember what you do in November"........i hope people remember this.

and that includes losses to doormats something called Louisiana-Monroe and Vandy, and in state rivlas Auburn and clemson.

and this was the same SC team that SOS said would compete for the SEC E this year........hm, sound familiar? at least Nick was honest......he knew what he had and kept telling people before the season.....so maybe he's not as dumb as his 4 game losing streak or "catastrophic events" comments make him appear.

yes, the grass is always greener.........

and keep in mindy folks, i'm not defending CPF here, just pointing out that NO ONE is immune to sucking.

and both of these fan bases are relegated to doing just what we've been doing the last two years........."there's always next year".

People will believe what they want to believe on here. If another coach doesn't have as good of a record then it's because he didn't have enough talent or any of the other excuses that are given. I'm personally amazed that as UT is preparing for an SEC championship game appearance that people on here are still talking about what a poor coach fulmer has been. I am defending him, and proud to. Say what you will, and I hate losing as much as the next guy, but Fulmer is the only one out of Richt, Meyer, Saban, etc who made it to the championship game.

Also keep in mind that LSU has made a decent living on Saban's recruits with Les Miles leading the way. I personally think Shula could have done as well as Saban this year, but I still believe Saban is a slam dunk at Bama.....unless the Domers or Florida State come calling!

Spurrier is stuck without a QB. The Vandy loss is still a bit perplexing.

i agree. and i expect by year 3 Bama won't be losing to ULM.

and i know the shortcomings we have.......i've been very vocal about my criticisms this season, and i feel all were justified. but just as justified should be some criticism for these guys that so many want to sell me on how they hung the moon etc......anyway.......just a little rant. i for one am perfectly happy seeing these two coaches in particular sucking it up so badly at the end of the season, esp, when us and poor old dumb CPF are headed to ATL.

for the first time in 3 years...........my pride is kicking in i guess.

Depending on the DL and DE's, the 07 class may eventually save Phil's bacon.

I think it is perfectly reasonable to hang your hat on the SEC championship and be proud if we win it. The wins against Arkansas and Georgia were undoubtedly impressive. If the drought gets beyond this year, without some significant changes we are sunk for the next two years (at least). A championship meets quotas, and at least provides solace that we have not been completely surpassed.

Next year is going to be very interesting.
-the coaching staff is in question, especially the coordinators
-a new qb without cut scares me
-I have a feeling that the rest of the league is going to be better next year.

Sucky job by Saban and Spurrier this year.

Many have bashed Fulmer on here(myself included). But I don't get the excuse making or whatever thrown up for these other coaches.

i agree with most all of that. the only caveat i'd throw in there, in regards to this year alone, personally, i am extremely pleased with how we were able to finish the season and even get to the title game. i wasn't happy with how we got there sometimes (USC, Vandy, KY), but nonetheless, given how the year started, i didn't even think we'd have this opportunity......is that setting expectations too low? or "accepting mediocrity"? to some yes, but as i've said before, it wasn't my expectation this season to even make it to the title game much less have a realistic shot at winning it, especially after the 3rd horrible loss we suffered.

so to me, for this year, there is some measure of pride i take in just winning the EAst that i haven't had when we've done that before.

i guess i'm looking at winning the SEC at this point as gravy.......right, wrong or indifferent.

i also agree with you about next year. i do think there is some hope for the future if a few key positions work themselves out.

I have an admirable scorn for Spurrier, just dislike Saban. If Spurrier's barbs weren't directed at UT alot of the time, they'd be funny.

The Washington thing blew up in his face, but who didn't see that coming? I respect him for his candor and tounge in cheek smugness, he seems like a good guy.

Saban, is well, Saban. Belichek's SEC counterpart.
