Have his kids by his side during at games like Phil did. I just watched the 04 game and got me thinking about how Phil and Butch are so much alike in the way they are father figures and embrace the family culture. Why couldn't Butch have came after Phil?!?!

I am not sure he would have been embraced as well had he followed immediately after Phil. There was a large portion of the fan base who were not going to accept anyone except Phil. I think the last two hires, in their own way, served to solidify the fan base with Butch.

hiring the coach of Central Michigan would not have been pleasant in 2008. Hiring the Cinci coach would have been great, though. It was Brian Kelly.

I, too, Jesse, try to imagine the Kiffin and Dooley years never happened...

Yeah but like to old saying goes you never want to be the next one right after a long relationship because it almost always never works out.

There is a certain segment of our fanbase that wants success NOW or maybe THIS MINUTE that is very cocky and loved Lane Kiffin. They got what they wanted. Hopefully they got off the bandwagon with him.

I think Butch Jones is a fantastic fit for Tennessee, and I am looking forward to the future for the first time in at least five years.

Not get lazy like Filmed recruiting. Not get money oriented like Dooley and Kiffin. Continue to be humble and thankful and privileged to be the head coach for our beloved Vols. I bet these prior coaches had another chance they would be a better coach. I believe Butch Jones is doing the Job he was hired to do. He understands he is privileged to coach st the University of Tennessee.

As much as I respect what Phil did for UT.
There's a segment of VOL NATION that came back home after Phil was terminated.
We hid during Kiffin & kept our eyes closed during Dooley!
I'll always love UT, but now we have a program to be proud of again!

To answer the actual OPs question and not discuss "Phil vs _____"....

I don't see Butch bringing his kids on the sideline during a conference game. Butch gets extremely animated and fired up. Maybe against some non-conf games, dunno.
