Some of you may recall that former QB and VFL Casey Clausen has been an assistant at Oaks Christian out in California for a while. He's just been named head coach at Calabasas...and his boy Rick is calling plays. SIAP.

Glad to see the Iceman is making moves these days. We sure could use him right about now.

Former Tennessee quarterback Casey Clausen, who was a longtime assistant at Oaks Christian, has taken over the program at Calabasas in his first stint as a head coach, and he has people excited.

The Coyotes will be very young, but he has two rising players in junior receiver Gaston Bouchereau, who has lots of speed, and junior running back-linebacker Erik Hillman.

Clausen's younger brother, Rick, will be the offensive coordinator and call the plays - for the most part.

"When we score, I'm calling the plays," Clausen said. "When we don't, he's calling the plays."

Former USC linebacker Chris Claiborne is the defensive coordinator.

Bet he's not as spry these days...probably wouldn't beat out Worley IMO.

Leave a spot open for Jimmy....he really hasn't panned out like all the QB guru's thought he would

Impressive line up for a high school football staff. Even though they are young and relatively inexperienced, it sounds like that group of coaches could create quite a team assuming they can get some local talent.

Wow, time marches on.....it doesn't seem that long ago that Casey was playing. I'll tell you one thing and that is the fact that Casey Clausen was indeed one tough and winning QB.....UT had some pretty tough football teams when Clausen was around

My favorite story about Clausen, which epitomizes his time in Knoxville:

True story: The night before Clausen's first start in The Swamp, in 2001, Phillip Fulmer was fidgeting nervously in an elevator at the team hotel.

Vicki Fulmer rubbed the head coach's back, trying to calm his nerves.

Clausen, in the back of the elevator, simply said to Fulmer: "Don't worry about it coach, I got this one covered.'

Also happens to be one of my all-time favorite wins. Travis Stephens, Big John, Iceman, Donte Stallworth, Albert Haynesworth....good times.

I was there. Casey leading the band in "The Swamp" was the cherry on top of the ice cream.

Travis Stephens humilated them.

One of my favorite interviews from the ole ball coach came from that game too. Said "Don't pay any attention to the score board. They bet us a whole lot worse than that".

Did the media call and refer to Casey Clausen as the "Iceman" too, or is that just a nickname the Vol family gave him?

14-1 on the road including 2 wins in the swamp. Kid was a Road Warrior and is without a doubt one of my favorite Vols.

Yup gave the Ole Ball Coach a big L in his final game at the swamp.
