and many think he is, who does Auburn get? Hugh Freeze? They're doing well with one "disgraced" basketball coach, why not go the football route as well?

They should just name an interim and conduct a proper search next fall. It would be really hard to find a quality replacement at this time.
They have just lost their OC and DC and I think promoted a Harsin surrogate to DC after that.

There's not an internal interim that makes sense to me and Kevin Steele, everyman's interim, might not be willing to bail them out.

Harsin is, I think, still there because they don't have a good interim choice and if I were Freeze, Steele, or someone being low key interviewed to replace Harsin permanently, I'd be letting Jimmy Sexton or another snake do what snakes do.

Who do you see as interim material at Auburn?

I'm not sure it really matters at this point.

if they fire one man for the same indiscretion while hiring another man fired for the same thing, they would have a PR nightmare and deserve it.

It’s Auburn, they’re used to the AA looking around they just have to have the suite cleaned first.

Freeze was fired for hookers and cheating. An affair, while not good, is not the same as buying hookers while on university trips; for one, the latter is illegal.

Well that would be even worse if that’s what he’s fired for to bring in Freeze

Freeze was with hookers not Harsin. Freeze wasn’t fired for having an affair, he was fired for having an affair with hookers on university dollars, while simultaneously paying recruits families.
I think you are misunderstanding my point.
All I’m saying it would be a bad look to fire a guy for having an affair only to bring in someone that did worse

I agree it’s a bad PR move. I was just pointing out Freeze wasn’t fired for having a simple affair. Harsin’s wont be a simple affair either, if it turns out to be true; it’ll be the impropriety of it being an employee/subordinate and possibly hiring her strictly because of their relationship I.e. Petrino.

Here’s a fit and a little outside the box… Joe Brady. Gotta beat Bama is shoot outs. Dude can help light the score board up. No baggage universally liked and respected so could probably put together a solid staff

Freeze is certainly the hope of fans. He's the only guy out there that's gettable that's actually done what they want a guy to do.

I must say, though, now that paying players is legal, what has he really got? His advantage is gone.

Lol. You think his only advantage was paying players? That’s foolish. He beat Saban twice.

Hasn’t earned it. Failed at his first big opportunity.

Yep. Boy-wonder Joe Brady (AKA The Chosen-One, The Genius) was the sacrificial lamb for the Carolina Panthers. Now he is having to take a step back in his career as QB coach for the Bills.

But no one can ever take away that Major Applewhite Too Much Too Soon Trophy.
