Who decommits if Fulmer retires or is fired?

Just off the top of my head, Giles, Oku (I'm considering him a commit), Stokes, Hunter, and possibly Thigpen.

Depends on who they hire to replace him. If they force him to retire or fire him they better get someone fast to avoid the fallout.

It sucks to lose recruits but most of us agree it's a necessary trade off to get a new head coach.

It took Saban all of two years to get over the hump. He didn't lose any significant recruits coming in if I remember right.

the biggest thing with the coaching change is if we clean house or if we keep some coaches. If we keep Clawson, Drayton, and Scott then we keep everyone you mentioned except maybe Hunter.

Yeah, let's look at who may defect. Now look at who we could gain with the hire of a guy like Butch Davis. Not only would we land more players, we would actually utilize them.

If we get the right guy, I think everyone stays committed. The ones that don't, because of Fulmer, shouldn't be coming here anyway.

I won't consider Oku being a loss until he commits.

I don't care who we lose as long as we make the right hire.

If by some amazing stroke of luck, we were able to land Butch, then I'd say we'd keep just about every top recruit in our class as well as pull a few of the other top prospects on our radar and a few on the UNC class/radar.

That's true, but I don't know if it is a perfect analogy. I don't remember the specifics on that class, but it was likely in-state heavy or full of recruits who had ties. This year's class for Tennessee is from far and wide as usual. It's hard to say that we keep many, but who knows?

My wife of 36 years just offered an interesting idea concerning the head coaching job at UT. When pro quarterbacks start have knee problems their careers are often times cut short. Perhaps a pro quarterback named Peyton would be interested in the job in a few years. In the meantime, let's be patient. The 2009 class is looking real good (Rival has UT #10). Let's not allow our frustrations to run off quality prospects and commits. Cheers!

Just a coincidence that you listed only four stars then?

I guess so. To be honest, I have absolutley no way of knowing which ones would decommit other than articles I've read saying that some would reconsider if a coaching change was made (ie, stokes, giles). I don't know any of these guys personally. The other ones are just speculation. It was just my opinion.

I thought Stokes committed because he goes to church with an ex Vol (Mark Jones perhaps?) and has always liked us because of him.

Jones introduced him to Slade. Slade was the one who did the majority of the recruiting on him.

If Slade is no longer here, goodbye Stokes.
