Boy, won't that set the stage! As nervous as I am now, I can't imagine how much more so, knowing the opportunity that would create. Whatta you guys/gals think?

OK ASSUMING we beat LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Georgia. Then Florida just has to lose 2.

Just 2. Florida will probably lose 2 in the next 2 weeks. Regardless, it sets the stage for Tennessee to control its own destiny. WHEN Tennessee beats Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and Arkansas.... that will set up a huge November game against LSU. And Florida may still lose 3 or even 4 conference games before the season is over.

I like your thinking, and btw, I guess I didn't do a very good job of proofchecking usernames before I joined. Sorry to almost duplicate...I actually thought I was being original at the time.

It's not as simple as three-way tie and highest in the BCS.

If Tennessee is highest in the BCS and Florida nect in the BCS out of the three, and within 5 BCS spots, then Florida goes to the SEC CG.

If Tennessee is highest in the BCS and Georgia is ahead of Florida, or if Georgia is first of the three in the BCS and Tennessee is ahead of Florida and within 5 of Georgia, THEN the Vols would go to the SEC CG.

florida/lsu/aub winner = home team.....i'm not seeing the overwhelming greatness of lsu/aub over florida and tenn...georgia, based on performance to date, i can understand...but tn and fl have both been tested against quality opponents in 2 games this year....having said that, i expect florida must beat lsu this weekend because they will likely not be prepared to match the physical play required on the plains just seven days after the lsu game.

We will win tonight, but LSU may not beat Fl. We will have to wait and see what happens at Auburn, SC and GA to them. Those will probably all beat Fl. :dance2:

As far as the three-way tie between UF, UGA, and UT goes, we would need UGA to win at AU. And, all that obviously goes out the window if UF loses to LSU and/or AU.

The real question is as follows?

Is winning the SEC East in 2006 something to be desired?

Here are some scenarios to ponder, regular season SEC losses in paranthesis:

UT (1), UF(2)
Do you believe that we would actually beat Auburn in the SECCG? If not, we drop from the Top 10, drop to at least 3rd in the SEC final standings, and end up in the Cotton Bowl or Outback Bowl.

UT (2), UF(3)
Definitely do not beat Auburn in Atlanta. That loss drops us most likely out of the top 20, and we finish 4th or 5th in the final SEC standings. We end up playing in the Peach Bowl.

UF (0), UT (1)
Florida wins the SECCG and plays for the National Championship. We would most likely qualify for a BCS Bowl Game as an at-large (5 BCS bowl games now), finish 2nd in the Final SEC standings, and if we win the Bowl game, finish 2nd or 3rd in the nation.

UF(1), UT(1)
Citrus Bowl

UF (2), UT (2)
Cotton Bowl

As much as I would like UT to play in Atlanta, I do not believe we have a real shot at winning in Atlanta, therefore, we are most likely better off not winning the SECE (no banners for the East Champions.)

Just my two cents. Realistically, though, I still think Florida will drop their next 3.

I'd rather earn the trip to Atlanta and take our chances.

Always go after the trip to Atlanta........!!!

I think Florida will lose 2 of 3.

Note- coming from a person who thought Alabama would beat Florida.

IMO it would be much likelier for UT to finish 11-1 if UF takes LSU apart this week. Let the Gators lose to AU twice (regular season and SECCSG) and give UT a chance to play the Louisville-W.Va winner in the Sugar Bowl.

Winning the SEC East in ANY year is "to be desired"! Come on! The day we tuck our tails and run from our conference is the day I lose faith in our team. I would rather us be defeated in the SEC championship than never play in it any day. GO VOLS!!!

Georgia will lose 3 conference games if we beat them.......They'll lose to Florida and Auburn....For UGA Auburn=Alabama Usually Beats Us Round November....But that sounds good to me

I'm not too confident about Auburn beating Florida. After the way they played at South Carolina and they way they are letting Arkansas run all over them today...I'm not as confident as I was week before last!
