I keep hearing 27 from Hubbs, so unless some guys who are dissatisfied with playing time decide to move on, let's focus on 27 for the time being. Here's who I think would sign based under the premonition that there was an early signing period next week. Names in bold are predictions, not current commits.

Tyler Bray QB (EE)
Markeith Ambles WR
Matt Milton WR (EE)
Kenbrell Thompkins WR (EE)

Ken Adams TE (EE)
Ted Meline ATH (EE)
Delvin Jones ATH
Channing Fugate H-back (EE)

Michael Palardy K

Zach Fulton OG
Jose Jose OG (EE)
Chaz Green OT
John Cullen OT
Jawaun James OT

J.C. Copeland DL
Corey Miller DE (EE)
Jacques Smith DE (EE)
Brandon Willis DL (EE)
Corey Lemonier DE
Calvin Smith DT
Kelcy Quarles DT

John Brown DT

Jeff Luc MLB (EE)
Christian Jones OLB

Michael Taylor LB

Dequan Menzie CB
Matt Elam S (EE)

I've heard strong hints that Elam is serious about other schools and is only still saying Florida to keep in-state pressure to join the Gators at bay. Tennessee is still a factor here.

I've heard nothing to suggest Broussard can bring up his grades unfortunately and I could easily see Harris or Brown being lost to grade issues or lack of interest. The need for quick, strong linemen on both sides of the ball means Tennessee can't afford to lost both of their JUCO DT's. There are rumors Brown is looking at FSU and other schools closer to home than Tennessee.

Ralph Williams is really liking Ole Miss right now. With Christian Jones' budding relationship with Tennessee and Luc an alleged silent commitment, the staff could stand to lose Williams.

Delvin Jones is tricky, because he has continued to look around, despite those close to him saying, that he is still firm to Tennessee.

Obviously there is no early signing period in football, so these are names I'll be watching in the coming months.

(LB) Christian Jones is the key here, Tennessee is running into a numbers crunch, so unless they lock him up, watch for these names---

Prince Shembo LB (committed to Notre Dame but has expressed interest in visiting officially)

Corey Nelson LB (Texas A&M verbal) could be a January visitor as I believe Sabanocchio hinted in another thread.

Lavonte David (4* JUCO LB) I don't know how involved Tennessee has been and this is pure conjecture, but he could be someone to watch late in the process.

Josh Shirley (4* OLB) haven't heard any recent buzz to suggest he'll be visiting during the season or where his interest with the Vols lies.

(WR) If Meline gets into school early and Ambles remains firm, it will be interesting to see if Tennessee continues to look at wide receiver.

Here are some names to watch---

James Wright (WR) LA
Joshua Reese (WR) FL
Justin Hunter (WR) VA (verbal to LSU)
Marcus Lucas (WR) MO

Athletes:

Patrick Swilling, Jr: the staff seems to like him at WR, but he's also been offered as a LB and a safety at other schools.

Vincent Sanders 6'3 with good speed. could be a playmaker at either WR or DB.

QB: Tennessee is still looking to uncover hidden gems at the high school level, but I've heard nothing to suggest that they've found someone they feel confident about.

Matt Simms is getting evaluated now I think in terms of background/character, et cetera more than on-field prowess. They've seen him play, but now they're focusing on his leaderships skills and personality, before they make a final decision on whether or not to offer.

CB/Safety: With Tennessee's 2009 secondary class returning, corner isn't as much of an issue as safety. The staff is obviously happy with Janzen Jackson, but who is going to line up opposite him over the next 2-3 seasons?

Will it be Darren Myles, Jr. who is already on campus, but has played sparingly outside of special teams or will it be a safety in the 2010 class?

Matt Elam, Demetrius Wright, Ahmad Dixon and Dietrich Riley appear to top the list.

Never say never with this staff, but Keenan Allen appears to be the longest of long shots and other Southern safeties like Alec Ogletree seem to be solid with their current commitments.

OL: if Tennessee strikes out with Green, Cullen or Jawuan James, look for Shun Coleman or a JUCO OL like Roszell Gayden to receive the full court press.

Very good a plausable mock. Only thing I would change would be Elam. I personally think we have a better chance at Demetrius Wright, Corey Cooper, and Demar Dorsey.

Christian Jones is a tough one to call because he is considering so many schools ATM but it will likely come down to UT and FSU, and I wouldn't necesarilly be surprised if he picks UT.

Very good post. Hats off to you TJ.

That would be a fantastic class. IDK how realistic to expect a class that large to be 3.89 stars on average.

I like all of those EE's...have we ever had this much at one time?

I have been told "no" several times. I think it's true for the modern era.

The landscape of college athletics has changed greatly in recent years making it much easier for kids to get enrolled in college early now.

Nice Post Jack!! It is going to be fun....

Thanks.

Good list..... But I think we get a RB. Also I am not sure Delvin Jones or John Brown are going to make this class. Also Lemonier and Smith will be tough. I know there is talk of them leaning to UT. But it is along way till Feb.

I think we would have a few more five stars by that time. Miller and Ambles would probably have the best chance.

I think that Elam is just looking for attention and drama(in other words he stays at Florida :p), so I think Kiffin keeps looking

Very nice post TJ! Impressive list. Hope it comes to fruition.

I think we take 3 DBs if we get someone of Elam's stature. I believe Wrights ends up chosing us after USC gets Riley. Just a guess.

Is Kelcy Quarles an EE though? I really want Kelcy but haven't heard that he's an EE before...

I think there was a quote from his dad about enrolling early (in SC paper The State?), but his most recent Scout articles suggest, that he won't be an early enrollee. I'll change it. Thanks for bringing it under review.

Excellent post, TJ. Good info, clear and concise thoughts...would be a very nice class to end up with. Certainly very attainable as well. I do think we end up taking a RB as well though--especially if the staff has any indication that Poole may look elsewhere after this season.

I actually had Jakhari Gore in the first mock, but my browser crashed and I dropped him for someone else. Gore is an undersized back like Oku that could show up on special teams or in the slot as a receiver. I've heard him mentioned multiple times as one to watch. His other leaders are LSU and Cal, but LSU doesn't have the room and I'm unsure if he'd go cross country for the Bears.

Broussard is definitely not in the Vols' plans for this class. See the latest update in his thread. That opens a spot for Quarles or Calvin Smith.

As JMVA1 pointed out, Corey Cooper from Illinois is someone else to watch at safety.

I think I'd have a heart attack if that's our signing class. Obviously, I wouldn't mind signing 28 and adding Wright, Dixon or Riley to that class.

February can't get here fast enough!

I loved the post and thought it was very well done...however it is almost identical to a class that you called delusional yesterday...?

He questioned my response, and I explained it. Not much else to it. Not trying to "serve" him.

I was simply bored and watched that southpark episode the other day. Was in no way trying to be serious. Serious is way overrated when my life consist of being on here on a Friday night. Although I did see a good High School game before resigning to my volnation rockstar lifestyle.
