ran the clock and kicked the field goal at the end of regulation? Also, did GA let us score down there so they'd have time on the clock?

Could not be done. We Would have still left them 90 sec or so. Better to be up 7 with 120 sec left than up 3 with 90 sec.

not true. We scored on 2nd down with 154 left. Had we not scored, then UGA calls TO. Now its third down. the most we can burn is 45 then kick. That leaves about 70 sec.
At least I think it was 2nd down.

I told my wife the exact same thing. Murray is too good a quarterback to give that much time to score. We should have run more time off the clock.

If we had done that and played for a FG and we missed or it was blocked, Jones would be ripped on here for going for a FG.

They would have had a minute or so left.

Without an automatic first down penalty, there was no way they could have bled the clock dry

I don't know. He only scored 3 touchdowns in 58 minutes. I think it is reasonable to try and make him score another one in less than 2.

All I know is the announcers said the clock would be around 30-40 seconds with the time out.

If I had confidence that we could run it down to the last second, I would agree. However, there was just too much time left on the clock to run it down and not run out of downs. The right decision was made to go for the touchdown and force them to tie....regardless of the final outcome. When you lose, the grass will always be greener on the other side.

That was what I immediately posted in the game thread after the go ahead touchdown.

If you watch number 20 he goes after the fullback in coverage when he has a clear line of sight that neal has the ball.
