And we had another tune up game to start the season, we could still have a chance to go to a bowl. Our scheduling is that of nightmares right now, and the whole "we play tough games here at UT" thought process needs to go away. Given the current state of the SEC, they need to scratch every game like that on future schedules. It does nothing but hurt us.

And if palardy didn't make the 3 to beat South Carolina we would be praying to go 4-8 right now.

See how this works?

I find it ironic that we buy out the North Carolina game and keep the Oregon game. If I were buying out games it would have been the Oregon and left the Carolina game.

Comical to see virtually everyone on VN think we have an accurate sample size to assess the limits of BJ's coaching ability. Not an ounce of context, perspective, or historical analysis to be found on here....anywhere.

Next year @ Oklahoma. Ouch. I don't mind the tough "out of conference" games. We need as much exposure nationwide as possible. I prefer though the games to be played in back to back years. We would have lost to Oregon last year and not this year.

So you're saying the way to get better is having easier games and not just working to get better and having a chance to win big games?

Alright.

Surely you didn't come here this morning expecting critical thinking skills or to find that we haven't lost our perspective...

Has to be masochistic to even show up at VN after a loss to Vandy.....yeah, I know I'm here too :)

We have nearly lost to those so called tune up games. Troy last year. South Alabama this year. And ask Michigan how Appy state turned out. Better yet ask Florida about Georgia Southern

I'd rather lose at Oregon than division 2 teams so keep the schedule the way it is and get the team ready to play

Oregon didn't keep us from going bowling. We did. The program is not where it needs to be. Period. The vast majority of the kids that we depend on to make plays and win games wouldn't start for any top team in our league. The game film doesn't lie.

What team do you suggest we go get? We beat freaking south alabama by one td. Austin peay was the only dominating game we had and they lost to tennessee TECH 34-0 yesterday... Heck western Kentucky was downright dominating that game against us until 6 consecutive turnovers which is a miracle in itself.

My point is that very few SEC teams have scheduling like this, and won't when we move to a 9 game SEC schedule.
Florida plays FSU every year. UGA plays Ga Tech. Carolina plays Clemson. LSU in recent years has played Washington, Oregon, and West Virginia. Alabama has recently played Michigan and Penn St. Ole Miss played @ Texas this year. Arkansas played Texas and A&M when they were in the Big 12.
