..It's that the SEC is wide open next year.. I'm not saying we're some kinda contender, but I'm saying there isn't many teams that particularly scare me.. Not Georgia, not Florida, not Auburn, South Carolina in Neyland? Vandy in Neyland?

I'm starting to think that we can pull a few W's and put together a decent season next year.

Outside of Bama, who do we play that you would go into the game thinking we don't have a shot at?

I won't argue parity of the league, but I just don't see UT on the same plain as FL, Bama, UGA, USC, LSU, TAM who all have a legit chance.

UT has a lot of questions to answer, schemes to implement, and depth charts to be filled before we start building the annual "SEC champs possibility" threads.

8 wins should be the bar any lower than that n hart needs to go. U dont pay 3m for a coach to win 6 or 7 games.. Yes my expectations are high so should ever other vol fan.

SEC has always been TERRIBLE in meaningless bowl games. This bowl season of SEC teams "struggling" means nothinggg. How'd Bama do in 2008 Sugar Bowl? Got killed against Utah, then won Nati Title in 2009. How'd LSU do in 2009 CapitalOne Bowl? Got beat by Penn State, then went 11-2 in 2010. Bowl win/losses have nothing to do with what happens in following year.

...it't that 1) bowl season without the VOLS sucks ass, and 2) bowl season in general has lost a lot of appeal

Did you guys have any more NFL announcements today? I hear a few were planning on announcing at the Holiday Inn breakfast buffet this morning...

the thought process is floyd, elam and reed are gone.

easley may or may not go.

i'm not sure there was another junior with a decision to make.

even reed going is a little funny to me.

but, best of luck to all of them

This bowl season told me:

1) The number of bowl games is WAY too many. Should have maybe 20 max, not 36.
2) Coach Strong would have been a good hire at UT. He knows how to beat FL. Fulmer, Kiffin, and Dooley all failed in this department big time.

there were some really bad match ups this year

I really think we deserved the Sugar. And it would have been a much better game with a UGA/L'ville matchup. Florida didn't look like they wanted to be there. Muschamp's seat is pretty darn warm right now. He might be a DC again soon. If Grantham takes a HC position, CWM might end up back at his alma mater!

I agree UGA would've whipped Lville....UF should've, they just didn't come too play...the int for a TD on the 1st play didn't help...neither did the onside kick and 2 15yd penalties on the opening 2nd half kickoff, that put the ball on the UF 18yd line...14pts off stupid stuff.....and the UF QB can't see the field at all...

They have ruined bowl season in my mind. New Year's Day was a treat with the Cotton, Rose, Sugar, and Orange Bowls on the same day. The Fiesta horned in and messed it up. The conference championship games haven't helped either. It's all about the money.

Check out these teams this year who would be playing each other on New Year's Day. Records are at the end of regular season. The choices would be:

Big 12
Kansas State 11-1
Oklahoma 10-2

Big 10
Nebraska 10-2

Pac 12
Oregon 11-1
Stanford 10-2

ACC
Florida State 10-2
Clemson 10-2

SEC
Georgia 11-1
Alabama 11-1
Florida 11-1
LSU 10-2
So Carolina 10-2
Texas A&M 10-2

and of course

Notre Dame 12-0

Think of matching up some of these conference champions and runnersup. You wouldn't find Florida State and No. Illinois in the Orange Bowl. Unless I have missed someone important, there is one undefeated, not counting Ohio State, and 5 major conference teams at 11-1. Remember, this is before these money grabbing conference championship games.

Yeah I agree with ya, the way this bowl system is screwed up. I don't think the loser of the sec champ game should be penalized for losing and going to a lower bowl while the team you beat jumps you.

I remember when you guys screws us when we lost and you guys whooped Hawaii when it should of been us there

As i remember, the dawgs didn't look all that great against Nebraska. Didn't they just get shellacked by Wisconsin? Louisville probably would've spanked the dawgs like they did the gators, maybe worse.

It also tells us that star ratings mean nothing !!

Would of been interesting though because uga has way more better offense plus they might of wanted to be there unlike UF

The same things were said about Tami before they were considered elite. You can't judge a team until you hit the field

A two-TD win is not good enough for you? Anyone who keeps up with college football knows that on any given night......... Nebraska was, and should have been, geeked to be there. We'd just come off an emotional close game with Bama. Think the Dawgs were geeked to be playing Nebraska? I'm pretty happy with the results.

And you know Florida will go after Strong when Muschamp is let go.
