... we should take the #2 spot in both the AP and Coach's top 25 polls. Duke didn't look good at home against UCONN and if we can go on the road to beat a #6 team who has been ranked as high as #3, that should bolster us to #2 imo.

Unfortunately, the officiating two years ago in Palo Alto was quite possibly the worst I've seen in ANY women's college game I can remember in recent years. Plus, they have beat us the last 3 times in their gym even in 2008 with Candace Parker and company, so we are going to have to play very well to get a win.

Making this game even more important is the fact that Stanford doesn't really have many tough games left except for in conference foe #11 Colorado (once) and #21 California (twice) who seems a bit overrated at the moment imo. So, if Stanford gets this win, they could potentially cost to a #1 seed.

The only way we will beat them is tighten up our floor game. 20 turnovers out there is a loss.

Its been a long time since we actually took down a top 3 team. We seem to be really close we hopefully we can turn it up vs Stanford.

what do you mean if ? :) if they can get a handle on the turn overs and stay out of foul trouble,I think they will win this game

I'll know real quickly if we have any chance. If we start throwing the ball away and Simmons misses her first five shots were doomed.

and thank you again for that link :hi: and ack ack thttp thttp crow taste bad the Lady Vols did stay out of foul trouble and while there were waaaaaaaaaay to many turnovers

it was another slow start to the 1st half that did them in ,the 13 unanswered points killed em,they can't get off to such bad starts against good teams

I "got" what you meant..Perhaps an adjustment to the ole sarcasm meter might be in order...How you got "the officials hate us" out of that is unclear but alrighty then..But with that being said, IMO the game was poorly officiated to a large degree..Not a conspiracy statement, just an opinion...

BTW, I didn't say which 5 were playing which 8 either..:)

I have finally determined why we get off to so many slow starts. I'm slow but it finally came to me.:dance2: Simmons and the other guards do not take the ball to the basket to start the game. Simmons settles for threes misses three or four then we try to force the pass into the post and turnovers result. Guards need to take the ball to the basket more penetrate the defense then either shoot or pass.I don't think there is more than one or two guards if that many that can stay with Simmons going to the basket why she doesn't take them on has always been a mystery to me. If I was Holly I would insist she play that style game.

Simmons feels it is a requirement that a shot be taken within 3 seconds of the tip. That's not enough time to drive all the way to the basket. I'm making good money betting that Simmons will shoot by 19:56 of the first half.:)

i would like em to give it a try and see Volfan

it probably wouldn't hurt to set Simmons till they send the first subs in Convoluted, that might stop some of them super fast shots right off the bat

Good Morning DC....

I hope you've been well...

If inclined I'd like to hear your thoughts about Tennessee's program sans Summitt....

whoa... thats a loaded question for a UConn fan.

I'd just say that Im surprised that HSAA's aren't playing like Id think with all the hype about them. We can blame the coaches etc. but if you have talent it should be on display easily. This "she's just a freshman" "it takes post players longer" "the college game is must faster" is all bologna to me. If you have talent is will show from day one, of course you'll make "rookie mistakes" but overall you should be a solid threat

and this isnt a personal jab at Russell.

and if anyone refuses to admit that UConn plays beautiful basketball shame on them for fooling themselves. You can hate Geno all you want but he get maximum effort out of his players. Pat did the same
