....does Phil go?

Even with the inevitable shakeup at 3PM today, Phil could be sent packing.

We have at best an outside chance to beat ND, I would imagine that The Powers That Be have already given that one up. But what if we lose to ND and one of the above.

Here's my prediction <assuming we lose to Notre Dame>:

Loss to Tigers - Phil Stays
Loss to Ky - Phil Stays/Gone 50/50
Loss To Vandy - Phil Stays
Loss to any of the two - Phil Gone

Replacement: Spurrier - could hit the ground running. In the SEC, recruiting the SEast already, has made play for Jimmy Clausen and this might be the clincher.

Problem: What to do with Cutcliffe <assumes he is OC after today>

Even though the remaining 3 games arent against the top teams in the SEC, they arent gimmes as we all know. As for Tiger high, they may not enjoy the recruiting of great athletes as the Vols do but they have a few, especially at running back. That and coach Tommy West is as tough as iron, a disciplinarian that accepts nothing less than his players be the same. He sure as heck was that way when he coached hs defense.

Spurrier will never be the coach here at Tennessee. Not to say I wouldn't like to see the day, but I would be my left pinky that would never happen...

I would rather lose to ND KY and Vandy all this year than lose to memphis.
If we lose to the tiggers, i am going to throw up.

don't start drinking so early man...
Phil's not going anywhere, he's done too much for this program to just be canned, so you can forget about it.
Spurrier's not coming here he just now got hired at SC..

If you think Phil is that entrenched, I would say that you have overdoes the ganga in your cookies.

As to Spurrier, what does he care, he up and left his beloved Gators in a flash, he's not getting any younger, if offered, you seriously believe he would turn it down?

Do you seriously believe that we wouldn't offer him?

Tiger High's entire season revolves around this game, they forced UT into it, and now that we are playing blackmail with it via our basketball program, they hate us even worse.

When I left Memphis to go to UT, half of the people I knew would barely speak to me when I would return. Which was a blessing

The other half never liked me in the first place. :dance2:

They are licking there lips over this chance. :shakehead:

Spurrier hates UT ever since they gave him the shaft back in the day.

We shafted him? When? He went to FL because our coach showed up drunk to recruit him and we had the single wing.

FL had better golf courses, weather and promised to run the offense as a passing one.

Sorry guys, but I don't think SOS is going anywhere. Yeah, it'd be easier to win in Knoxville, but I don't think it'd be near as fun for him. He's having a lot more fun trying to beat the big boys & "making history" while doing it. :yahoo:

That being said, how can you guys really want a new coach? Fulmer's a Vol, isn't he? A national championship & several SEC championships?

Trust me, Spurrier wins 1 SEC championship and/or gets us to a BCS bowl or 2, he's a god in SC for life (and then some).

I hope Phil stays on but only if he is willing to change how PF makes decisions. These took way too long and now he could have, potentially, backed himself into a corner. There has been no decisions as of 4:45 PM that there will be any other coaching changes and that's a shame.

It's Phil's butt, hope he isn't shooting it off.
