make the NCAA Tourney (and that's a big if)...

Cuonzo Martin deserves SEC coach of the year and consideration for national coach of the year. This team doesn't even look like the same team two months ago.

He was saying we wouldn't be the same team in February.
Maybe he knows his stuff?

Agree this team looks totally different. I have to say it really shows how far we have come to have Stokes in the mix- but then basically not play him for USCjr and FL and still play great D and come away with a W for both. This should give the others plenty of self confidence that Stokes is a game changer, but they can still do great things without him. McBee- dang, dude is starting to definitely earn his scholly. Plays to the best of his ability every second he is on the court. :hi:

look at scores from early in the year and look at them now...

its laughable!

this team as you said is playing how he wants them to play, and he still isnt satisfied which is what i like. he said just last night that guys still arent defensively where they want and need them to be to be a great team.

IMO, which is a dumb A$$ opinion probably, cal should never be considered coach of the year unless he wins a title that year. recruiter of the year? yes coach of the year? no...i feel there are many coaches in the country who could coach that team as good as he has.

Not if Kentucky goes 16-0.

If this team wins out and goes 11-5, and UK goes 16-0, I think the more impressive job is Cuonzo. Not saying what Calipari is doing is some hack job (because he gotten this team to buy into D, and it's quite scary), but really, other than possibly Florida, no one can compete with their talent.

Sure Kentucky has plenty of talent (young talent, I might add). But if they go 28-1 or whatever, how can you dismiss that accomplishment?

I can't.

most voters probably agree with you, i just dont haha :)

edit: actually looking at the history the last few years it really hasnt been going to the coach with the best record in the season. maybe it wont go to cal.

No way he deserves to be COTY. We have had 2 many bad losses for him to get that. Maybe if he can have a winning season next year, and compete post season he would have a chance. But only having one road SEC win, losing to some really bad teams, and then getting dominated by others....nope

If it's a hypothetical 10-6 UT vs. 13-3 UK, then we might have a good debate. But if UK has 14+ wins, I don't think we do.

john calipari has never won a c.o.y, i find that interesting, especially some of the insane records he has put together at memphis and uk.

think the committee doesnt think that highly of his ethics?

off topic but funny video of cal and ole chaney:

No I read it. I stand by what I say. No reason he deserves it even if we go into tournament. I wish I could be blinded for my love of UT in this, but we have just had 2 many inconsistencies over this season.

Even if we win out, why would a team that goes 19-12 deserve to have their coach as COTY? Oh and our loses to UK/Vandy were just awful to watch, and I can not even think about December. What a bad month that was. I would say Murray St. would have a better chance, especially if they win out.
