Children are our only real legacy. The only thing we can leave behind to change the world...for better or for worse. The love we give them, and stuff we teach them, will shape who they are and still be here long after we are gone. Nobody will give a crap how much money you left behind, or how big your house was, or what kind of cars you drove. That will all be quickly forgotten, and you cant take any of it with you when you die. Invest your time, your effort, and your love in your children and grandchildren. Or someone elses, if you dont have kids. Maybe through the Big Brother/Big Sister program or a mentorship opportunity.

To paraphrase:

"The world flourishes when old men plant trees they will never really see... knowing that one day their grandchildren may rest in their shade."

Young man from Nashville is A gifted athlete. Always had issues with his weight but when he was 360 pounds he could still dunk a basketball and was on his high school's track sprint relay team. I wish him nothing but the best and good fortune.

I remember his recruiting videos.
Dunked a basketball and threw one the length is the court and made it.
Highly impressive for a 300+ lb high schooler.
Glad the young man chose to be a VFL! 🧡🍊

Wasn't Eli the guy who was in the bar in Animal House who walks up to the guys and asks "Mind if we dance wid your dates" before ripping the table out of the floor??

Simmons is a class act and one of the finest examples of class and perseverance to come through our university.

He stuck out the coaching change and became a key part of the program.

Met him his first year on campus at an orange and white event, and the way he interacted with the fans was a real treat. The kid genuinely was thrilled to be there. If you ever see him out, ask him about slam dunking a basketball on a regulation rim. Freaky athlete that could do it all.
