what advice would you give him?

Mine would be...First, learn and love the culture of UT football. Reach out to Fulmer. Have dinner with Majors. Read up on Neyland. Learn "Rocky Top". Go meet Smokey. Memorize the maxims. Be able to answer why our team nickname and colors are what they are.

Secondly, get some orange Tennessee blood on your staff. Go get Tee. Keep Graham. Bring home some true VFL's.

Finally, pick one marquis SEC game next year...Alabama, Florida or Georgia. Do whatever it takes to win that game. Start planning now. Will yourself a win. It would do wonders to unite the fan base and energize your approval ratings.

This. All of this is how he gains my loyalty. If he can just beat Bama fl Georgia or uscjr I will believe in him. One upset shows progress and promise.

Agree with this.

Also, make sure you review the film.

Don't spend too much time worrying about Memphis. Every UT coach comes in and thinks they're going to lock down the state. Memphis is generally a waste of resources.

1.) Hire the best possible staff you can
2.) Recruit and sell all the positives of UT and it's past success/NFL players
3.) Gameplan and Coach/Teach an exciting brand of football with maximum effort
4.) Connect with fans, former players (VFL's)
5.) Be patient and handle the media/PR in an positive/effective way.

If you are in your last year and your job is on the line don't go out and hire a new DC that has never held that position.

Make sure to count how many men you have on the field at all times. Conserve your timeouts. If you feel hip pain after a day out on the lake, go see a doctor. Let everyone know before the season starts that the SEC can continue to kick us around (because usually those prophecies work in the opposite direction). I think that about sums it up.

My advice to Coach Jones:
Don't listen to anything I have to say because I am not qualified to give you any advice.
My opinions are based on emotions alone. I have never even coached high school football team much less a storied SEC team like the Tennessee Volunteers.

However, win or GTFO.

Mark shower etiquette of your list to discuss. Dooley already covered this with players. Good luck coach, I will be the one in Orange screaming my azz off in the stands.

1.) Watch your back and don't trust anyone in this admin, esp Hart and Cheek.
2.) You owe Hart nothing...he owes you....
3.) Do your part and while fans may be pissed about other issue, we WILL support you do what you have to do to make this work, and don't take **** from any other coach in this conference.
4.) The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.
5.) Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE.
6.) If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam.
7.) 4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.
8.) Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.
9.) Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.
10.) Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

I agree with the above and will add:

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE SOME HALFTIME ADJUSTMENTS

(the correct ones would be nice, but any adjustments at all will be an improvement from the last staff)

Sorry about the idiots.

Get a good DC.

Mobile QBs are fun.

Get a good DC.

Man, that 4-3 is the wave of the future.

Welcome to Knoxville. Try the downtown brewery.

Hey you got a good DC?

If you succeed here I do not blame you one bit for leaving in 2-3 years, given the reaction of our "fans."
