There are few things in life that get me pumped up as much as a good coach speech before or after a game..... so that got me thinking....if you had the chance, what would you say in the locker room?

Me? Well, I would probably do a version of Bill Pullman from Independence day.
"....We will not go quietly into the night! We will not give up without a fight!..."

So let's hear your best.

Al Pacino - Any Given Sunday - Game of Inches speech. Especially appropriate after the overtime loss to Georgia. Six inches and Pig gets that TD.

Sean Connery - Untouchables - "What are you prepared to do now?"

Most everybody does not give us a chance in this game. But you know and I know we have put our time in, we have prepared, and now it is up to us to execute. I don't care about rankings and ratings, when we take the field, you're gonna look over there and see for yourself not one of them has more than you do. Everybody has two arms and two legs, but what they don't have is our orange brotherhood and hearts. So if you're telling me their hearts are bigger than yours, they can out effort you, then there's no reason to take the field today. But if you're telling me your heart & head says you're ready to lay it all on the line, ... give your all for Tennessee, then follow me through that door and T to VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My thoughts exactly:

I don't know what to say, really. Three minutes to the biggest battle of our professional lives. All comes down to today, and either, we heal as a team, or we're gonna crumble. Inch by inch, play by play. Until we're finished. We're in hell right now, gentlemen. Believe me. And, we can stay here, get the **** kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time. Now I can't do it for ya, I'm too old. I look around, I see these young faces and I think, I mean, I've made every wrong choice a middle-aged man can make. I, uh, I've pissed away all my money, believe it or not. I chased off anyone who's ever loved me. And lately, I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror. You know, when you get old, in life, things get taken from you. I mean, that's... that's... that's a part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losin' stuff. You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game - life or football - the margin for error is so small. I mean, one half a step too late or too early and you don't quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don't quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when add up all those inches, that's gonna make the ****ing difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying! I'll tell you this, in any fight it's the guy whose willing to die whose gonna win that inch. And I know, if I'm gonna have any life anymore it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that inch, because that's what living is, the six inches in front of your face. Now I can't make you do it. You've got to look at the guy next to you, look into his eyes. Now I think ya going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. Your gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team, because he knows when it comes down to it your gonna do the same for him. That's a team, gentlemen, and either, we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. That's football guys, that's all it is. Now, what are you gonna do?

Didn't get to goto the game but CBS showing butch with the players kneeled reading the Maxims was perfect. Those kids screaming "Yes sir" when he would ask them a question!

I had a Georgia fan at my house watching and after they switched from that I looked at him and said " Oh my goodness"! You could see it, feel it and right there I knew it was going to be a hell of a game!

If you play hard you will be fed today! Tacos! Every score is a dozen tacos! If you don't score you will all starve to death! Get out there and win for some tacos!

It is what it is, any given Sunday anything can happen. We just need to execute & take care of the football and make plays on both sides of the ball. A win is a win, and we're gonna take each game one at a time and give 110%. I don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama!

A few days before a big game at Colorado, Bill McCartney gave each of his players a football, told them to sign it, then send the football to the person they love most in the world. Call that person and tell them that they are receiving that football as a symbol of their love for them, and the way they play on Saturday and the effort they give is a direct expression of how much they love that special person. McCartney explained to his players that its only when you love someone or something more than yourself that you can truly give all that you have towards a goal. Love of self isn't enough.

You drop a pass....you run a mile
You miss a block...you run a mile
You fumble the football and I will break my foot off in your john brown hindparts....and then you will run a mile

I predict that Georgia has only succeeded in awakening the sleeping giant, which had been Tennessee's football program, and filled it with a terrible resolve. GO FORTH AND LAY WASTE TO THE CHICKEN NATION!!

You are Tennessee. The most tradition rich program in the country. You see that stadium out there? Over 100,000 people gathered because they love you, and what you represent. You are a champion. Play like one. Win.

I'd say, "I don't care if you play well or not, but you better show improved showering skills."

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Not a 'rah rah sis boom bah' kinda guy...assuming we had recruited intelligent and self motivated players and had prepared well, I'd have a quiet confidence about me and go over a very few key fundamentals and metrics...
