......just wait until Billy Clyde takes Pearl to the woodshed at Rupp Arena!

Pearl was outcoached once again. How you can fail to have a hand in Meeks' face the entire 2nd half is beyond me. He should listen to Coach Summitt. Meeks had to become a "no touch" player. He touched plenty.

he is not going to score 50 against us there. i think we'll play them better next time. we may lose, but we'll play better.

Kentucky has two scoring options, they only needed one. The game in rupp won't be much better if any at all.

However, when we get blown out by UK at Rupp, it will give everyone even more opportunity to talk about what a young team we are and how bright the future is!!!

I've noticed a suspicious decline of Billy Clyde bashers on the VN. That being said a revenge killing in Rupp is always very sweet.

I noticed that too. Where is all the trash talk from last year about Billy and Kentucky?

You're still here?

You must have won.

It's pretty sad, as many defenses UT has played against that were designed to deny Lofton the ball, that UT doesn't have one they could have used against Meeks. Really disappointed.

i would've put a box and 1 or triangle and 2 on meeks. but again that would mean bruce wld have to coach and that hasn't happened yet

I don't understand the derision of the coaching for this game. Bruce didn't have anyone who could guard Meeks. He didn't have anyboody who could keep him from getting the ball. He tried Maze; he tried Hopson; he tried Prince. It didn't matter. There isn't a Vol who can check him in man or a box and 1, and you can't zone him. He was the best player in the gym, Kentucky recognized it, and I'm sure Tennessee knows it pretty well, too. That doesn't mean there was any magical adjustment that could have changed it.

This is a young, weak defensive team. It was in November, it is in January, and although I hope for some gradual improvement, it will be in February or March. That doesn't mean Bruce has quit coaching. It does mean that there are probably going to be more than 6 guys who hang career highs on us.

He didn't have to work hard enough to get his shots. I understand that he is going to get his points, but that was too easy. Especially when everyone saw he had the hot hand.

we could easily have told Tabb that you do not ever get outside of 1 foot from this guy on the defensive end. Ever. Don't help, don't peek anywhere else. You with your eyeballs in his sternum is all I want to see. If he beats you driving it, we'll help, but you don't help anyone.

That's how to stop the rain of 3s. Meeks isn't going to beat you driving it. If he does, say good job. Open 3s, he absolutely proved he'll murder you.

I don't disagree with that. However, I can't think of a single adjustment with this particular team that would have solved the problem, other than the "kick him in the knee" technique, as introduced in another thread.

If we don't have one guy on this team that can face guard Meeks that is very sad.

I feel confident that Tabb--along with about 4 other guys--was given similar (though more defensively sound) instructions. The problem is that they were all unable to do what they were asked to do.

I don't think there is any prayer that any one of them was told to faceguard Meeks and deny the ball.
