Is there a way to ignore an entire forum? If so, someone show me the secret pathway. I've been unable to find it.:hi:

Oh. I thought the ignore forum would be the place where all the threads and people I ignore go, after I ignore them.

j/k, I've never ignored anybody but that Slydell fella.

You seriously have such an issue on the interwebs, that you need an automated filter to prevent some level of discomfort?

Real life > you

I think he just wanted to ignore the football forum. It's a perfectly valid desire. I wish I had the self control sometimes.

Why so cereal, AM? I like to filter things down somewhat on my time on here. Gives me more time for golf and goofing off each day.

Only a question in the help forum and nothing more.:hi:

I'd like the same thing, actually. I'd like to be able to click on "New Posts" and not see any results in the Politics forum. I have plenty of outlet in my real life to argue about politics; I have zero interest in discussing it on this site, so I'd rather just block the whole thing out to keep me from even thinking about it.

Same. Reason for my question. :hi:

It isn't about discomfort. It's about efficiency and filtering out noise. The Ignore Thread function is fantastic for that exact purpose. I'm not interested in the Politics forum (or the NASCAR forum, or the End Zone, etc.), so I regard them as noise. Since the "New Posts" search is by far the most efficient way to browse through the site, I'd like to be able to exclude results from that search that I know ahead of time I don't care about.

The best I can offer at this point is a custom "new posts" link you could bookmark which would accomplish your goal. I'll post directions when I have more time.

That would be great. Thanks. I rely heavily on the New Posts link and it seems like 30 percent or more of the results always come back from the Politics forum, which I regard as a death zone right now. I spend way too much time on this site as it is.

Come on, it's not possible to spend too much time here. :)

Tell me which forums you would like to exclude.

Politics is really the only one I'd really like to exclude. Mostly because of the traffic. And because I never totally trust myself not to go in there when I see an especially juicy-sounding thread and throw a whole afternoon away.

See if this works:

This is like the sudden peace when your kids leave the house and suddenly you can read a book without people shouting around you.
