may be hard to get out of Illinois...lots of nice offers...
This the same high school as Spraggins. It was the subject of a Fox Sports documentary that followed one of their state championship team (on which Spraggins started as a high school freshman). Maybe developing a pipeline?

What other East Saint Louis player did we have in the 70s or 80s. At the time we were still playing JV college games or Freshman games vs other Colleges.

My Uncle recruited/spotted/identified HS Talent for many years for Tennessee. He went to the 1940 Rose Bowl with the Team. He told me about Tony Robinson a year before his recruitment. Traveled the South and Midwest, not a lot of NCAA rules during this period by the NCAA but he scouted quite a bit for Tennessee. He knew all the coaches for 50+ years and saw all the ups and downs. Ironically, He died 2 hours after Tennessee won the NC in 1998 with a smile on his face. I remember him talking about Tony Robinson but he also talked about another player from East St Louis. That was confusion on my part mixing the two together. He saw Robinson play several times and ranted about how good he was and the placement of his finger on the football. He talked about "The General" a lot all business, no-nonsense and a big Smile on his face. Gentle Giant.

That school is always good. Illinois has 8 classes in high school football. It is unusual for ESL to not do well. They won the 6A championship this year.

The Class of 2021 wide receiver from East St. Louis (Ill.) High School said he's hearing from Tennessee "a lot," led by wide receivers coach Tee Martin, and the Vols are one of seven SEC teams in his current top 10 "because of my relationship with Coach Tee, and they are really just showing a lot of love."
He's a teammate of offensive lineman Javontez Spraggins, who signed with Tennessee in December and is set to join the Vols by this summer.
When we were there, they were working out in the weight room, and I just liked how things were run and things like that," he said.

While Lewis hasn't been back to Tennessee since then, he said he plans to visit the Vols again at some point — perhaps in the "summer." He said Tennessee "probably" will get one of his five official visits.

The Vols' coaches, he said, have told him that "I have a great opportunity" at Tennessee, and they like "my length" and his ability to "run any route" and "stretch the field."
