Her stupid young ass.

A teen claimed she was "making a statement" when she lit an American flag on fire with a cigarette lighter and then stomped on it in the middle of traffic, according to police.

The incident occurred just hours after Americans celebrated Independence Day with fireworks celebrations across the region.

Two officers said they saw Rebecca Ellen McKimmie, 18, of Ocean City, Md., light the flag on fire early Sunday morning while standing between two lanes of traffic near the Route 50 Bridge. Police said once it was lit she then stomped on it in the roadway, causing several cars to swerve in order to avoid her.

Someone should have ran over the top of her sorry ass. I'll bet her parents are real proud of her.

18 years old...yeah, she's got a lot to be ashamed of on behalf of the country.

I've said before that anyone under 21 that does crap like this needs the Soviet treatment. Create a gulag system in the Dakotas and simply ship them out there.

I don't care a bit that she burned the flag - simply makes her look like a fool.

Standing in the middle of the street to do it should be punished.

Agreed. I just don't think the standing in the middle of the street part was what made it a story, or which sparked the ire of Savage. His protest is what we call a content-based restriction. He doesn't like her speech, therefore he seeks to ban it. That is very much against the law of the country the honor of which he thinks he's defending.

That can be a problem when you mix freedom with foolishness. It may be better if only those with good sense had access to these freedoms we all enjoy.

Then the problem probably would be determining who had good sense and who was foolish.

Tough world.

Are you sure that is what drew his ire? Sounds like an assumption on your part to me.

We fight to give idiots the right to burn the American Flag. We also fight for my right to call people that do that (explict). Anybody that does something like that should be arrested, thrown on a airplane and dropped of in BFE....preferably somewhere in the middle east for 2 weeks. I would guarantee that person would be kissing american soil when they returned. Just a suggestion

Sounds reasonable to me.

It doesn't sound unreasonable to charge her with 'reckless endangerment', which is a felony in most states I believe.

If on the other hand a semi had run over her, then a simple littering a public highway misdemeanor charge would have been appropriate for her crime. :)

It's not often that I praise LG but today I feel I must.

In the long and storied history of this great nation there are things that just stand out and need to receive accolades upon accolates and today LG deserves just such.

In doing so today I am indeed humbled by the enormity of it all and as I choke back the emotion let me take this time to nominate LG for the award of:

TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

The should have charged the little goofball with arson and reckless endangerment.

:hi:

LG is proud of her!

No I'm not. I don't care.

Now, if she had burned a copy of the Quoran, or burned a pciture of Obama in effigy, at least a few of the posters on here would congratulate for having the courage to do it in public.

If she torched Obama himself, I would pay for her lawyer.
