After all the termoil of this past season and turnover of the coaching staff......I am now more excited about the upcoming season than I was about last season.

Go out and get all new UT apparel, cause we are going somewhere next season. Someone might ask where about right now and I will tell you. My friends UT is going to the top, that's where we are going. When Cut left the first time his system and QB's were still in place, hence the 98 NC team with Tee Martin. Ever since his system went out the door and Sanders started implementing his things took a nose-dive at UT. Yards, Points per Game, consistency went right out the door. So now Sanders exit stage right please ----------------------->. Ok now I feel somewhat better. Coach Cut has a plan, and here's my BUT, BUT can it save us from ourselves??? I have no doubt in my mind that Cut can turn our Offense around but can he get into the minds of the players enough to get the mindset of this year out of their brains??? I don't think it will be coaching next year that will be a possible demise, it will be attitude. I have a solution for it though.......Amnesia. Am I saying hitting the players in the head with rocks will do it, heavens no!!! The only way we get where we need is just to forget we even played last year. We have Studs in the Stables and we actually have a Jockey to ride them now. AND THEIR OFF!!!! Coach Cut has his work "Cut" out for him but as UT fans I think we even need to have some amnesia and forget about this past year as well. I say this not only for our sanity, but to get positive reinforcement back into UT's Football program. I for one have said some harsh things toward a few people still up there at UT and am not apologizing for it but instead offering more positive responses towards the players and coaches for this upcoming season. One reinforcement I would like to throw out there is "KILL EM' D". As we all know Tennessee has a tough D but I don't think its tough enough, it plays too soft and not aggressive like we know it can. The next reinforcement I would like to offer is "Get your head out of your arse Ainge and lead this team!!!!" We all have read the the Mitch Mustain and Chris Smelley posts but Ainge is a good QB (not great yet but might get there) and we need him to be a leader next year. Ainge is the only one with SEC experience and that is enough to keep him in there right now. Crompton hear this though "BE READY BROTHER" cause this is Ainge's last chance, and you are next up on the "Wheel of UT QB's". The last positive reinforcement that I would like to offer is to the fans of Neyland Stadium "GET UP AND LOUD FOR THE GAME OR GET THE HECK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I will gladly take your tickets if you can't scream loud enough, I have lost my voice twice when I went up there to games and neither one was a "Big" game. In the words of Ted Nugent , "If anyone wants to get mellow you can turn around and get the BEEP outta here, alright, DO YOU HEAR ME!!!!" Fans, Neyland used to be the loudest stadium in the world!!!!!!! At least to me anyways. So get into your program and give it a lift!!!!

I also can't wait to see the incoming class this year, "Thank you Coach Cutcliffe for returning". Without Cut returning we were in trouble as far as recruiting goes. So it should be a very good offseason to say the least.

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!! :aggressive: :clapping: :dance2: :gun:  :post-20645-1119625378: :superman: :yahoo:

How many cups of coffee you had this morning? I thought I was wired. I agree that next year will be better than this year. First of all we are almost guaranteed six wins next year (Air Force, Marshall, Memphis, Kentucky, a still struggling Arkansas, and a Cutlerless Vandy). So, at least we will not be bowless. I think the offense will be improved and the QB issues will be resolved before the season starts. I just can't see Cutcliffe using the tag team method. As to the Neyland noise factor I am in agreement with you. We get Cal, Bama, LSU, and Fla at home so the noise level will be very important in those games. This year I only made it to one game, Georgia. I sat in section D about 50 rows up and I was the only person yelling when we were on defense for most of the game. Granted, there are a bunch of older fans in that area but it was truly pathetic.

I'm hyped to see a consistent running game and see Erik Ainge return to form! :air_kiss:

Erik Ainge for Heisman in 07!

Bank on it!

Yeah...I think first thing needing a fix is the 12th man concept. We need some serious noise in Neyland. The games I went to were weak on crowd noise.

It used to be the most feared place to play now people have our number here. UGA now owns Neyland. Granted we own Sanford but I'd rather protect our house first. If we can go W's at home next year we'll have it made.

Of all the problems you have had, I think attitude will be the easiest to overcome. You have to remember that these are 20 year old kids. Seven months is an eternity to them and I think they will come in fresh and ready to be coached with a better outlook on what a privilege it is to play football, especially at such a premier program. I really think attitutde is not going to be an issue for you next year.

The problem? Its tought to win the SEC East, much less the SEC. Period.

I agree LG. I think next year Fla will probably be in the catbird's seat for the east. UGA will be down a little without Shockley (they are really a different team with the QB running threat). SC and UT will each be somewhat improved. I think UT has the potential to be significantly better while SC needs a few years of Spurrier recruiting to make anything more than incremental improvements. Vandy will suck next year, they have no one who comes close to Cutler. KY will probably be about the same.

My SEC East 2006 early forecast:
1. Gators
2. Vols
3. 'Dawgs
4. Gamecocks
5. Wildcats
6. 'Dores

I think we'll know about this better by time to start 2-a-days.

If, at that time, we've had no run-ins with the law, no fisticuffs in public places, and no players hauled in on charges then I think we can safely assume that the attitudes have been adjusted and the players believe the coaches are serious about the discipline.

If, however, we have another steady diet of arrests and poor behavior, we might ought to gird our loins for another tough fall.

I don't believe that will happen though. David Cutcliffe will take care of his end of the ship.

Most 18-22 year old young men will get away with just as much as they can. Unfortunately they seemed to know just how far they could go, and some of them chose to go the limit.

The results of this season have proven once and for all that those who were on this board declaring that off-field behavior does not equal to on-field ineptness, have zero credibility on the subject.

Perhaps it was just wishful thinking on their part.

I sort of fall in to that...while i don't discount the relationship between the two, i have also been one of the ones going back to the old Miami and FSU days of:

Thugs=championships....obviously, not true, esp, when the thugs aren't that good of football players to boot!!!

I think hitting some of them in the heads with rocks--figurative rocks, of course--might just be the medicine they need. Some of them need to be reminded that playing football for UT, in practice and in 11 games a year, is an honor and requires their best efforts on every snap. Did you ever see Al Wilson take a play off? Travis Henry? Travis Stephens? Overall, you see the defense approach each series with that attitude (with the notable exception of the last Ga drive,) but I hope Cutcliff brought his bag o' rocks for the offensive unit!

You know, this works both ways. If you are playing hard and making plays, the crowd is gonna cheer. I was at the USC game, and the crowd was great, right up to the point in the second half (after 3 drives stalled after beginning in Cock territory) that it was more important to the crowd to win the game than the players. It got quite a bit quieter after that.

Thugs have won chapionships (see: Colorado or just about any Miami team,) but it is true that a lack of discipline off the field often equals a lack of discipline on the field. If you can't convince a kid to not beat up his girlfriend, or not fight a basketball player, or not turn down his radio when told to do so by the cops, how are you going to convince him to secure the football on every play, or stay on that block an extra second, or give up the block before he holds or pushes in the back? Part of that has to do with the kids we are recruiting, part has to do with discipline instilled once they are in the program. I am hopeful Cutcliff will help with this; it appears to be an area where Fulmer could use some help.

Hey, as crazy as it may sound Chuck, he could be right on that one....This may not be a good example to some but to me it makes the most sense....Look at Brady Quinn, he was terrible last year and look at what he's done this year....He's right up there in the Heisman race, now do I think he will win it? No, but can he contend? If he plays hard week in and week out and grows him a set over the off season, he might, who knows?
