about Bruce Pearl or anything. Volnation has picked sides. Anyway, I do have one problem with people who say that you want to see exciting basketball. That's fine, but I don't care how we win, as long as we win in terms of our style of basketball. I've seen people say "if we play Kevin O'Neill style of basketball, I'll never watch again." I don't care if we win games 100-99, or 35-34. If we win games that brings us tournament success, than I'm 100% going to be excited. I don't know why, but that has been bugging me. However we win games, I'm cool with it, and UT ever gets to the Final Four (which I pray will one day happen), I honestly won't care how we got there.

Go Vols!!! :hi:

I have never wanted to argue so bad in my life....I will refrain...for now.

I honestly enjoyed the Ohio State game even though we lost. I also did not enjoy some wins in the O'Neill era. To each his own. The style of player who would be willing to play the Bob Knight style of bball is not going to get you to the Final Four and beyond in this day and age.

I want to see offense and defense. I would rather watch a dunk than a layup. I would rather see some 3 point swishes than over and over dumps to the low post for a missed turnaround that draws a foul and sends our guy to the free throw line.

If you didn't want to start an argument, then you shouldn't have posted in this forum. The rationality between the old guard and the new blood will flood this even if you posted that Chris Lofton was a good three point shooter.

It would different if UT had Tom Izzo, and were going to 3 or so final fours each decade.

When the UK job came open, I heard the same thing from the UK fan base. Oh my God, I hope Izzo doesn't come, I hate that style of ball. Yeah, I hate winning too.

I guess no one watched Michigan State destroy Louisville's high wire act last year. Sure its not as fun to watch, but I don't watch college basketball just for fun.

Its odd.

Bottom line, UT is BLESSED to have Pearl! He turned around UT's mens basketball! I believe some of us are just getting a bit greedy and little ahead of ourselves by asking for championship rings and final 4s already! I'm just glad we're the SEC East champs two years in a row with historically-badazz Kentucky and red-hot Florida in the same division!

Only complaint I have with Pearl is his flex offense... I believe we need an actual standardized half-court offense to take us to the next level. However, I'm still happy and thankful with where we are right now!

haha anything about Pearl is sure to turn into an argument in about 2 or 3 pages (maybe sooner) but I agree. Winning is exciting enough regardless of the style :)

Do you know what Bob Knight basketball is?any earthly idea? The guy built a national title team around a 3 point shooter in a motion O and good defense.

MikeHamiltonFan are you trying to say because you have been taught great basketball skills and great discipline, that is definitely part of Bob Knight bball, you can't win the big game. I don't agree what so ever with that type thinking. I think you do not appreciate the details of good basketball preparation, you are probably a pickup game type of guy.

I would venture to guess that MHF has never played any sport above the PS3 or XBox level.

I love to watch the high octane offense and ball stealing defense, but the bottom line is winning. Alpha and Omega. We will still need a good half court offense because some teams just won't let us run and they will take care of the ball. And as boring as it is, we had better make our free throws because smart teams will foul us if they know we make the FTs.

North Carolina has won a few national championships with a pretty high scoring offense that relies heavily on transition. The difference is, they play well in the halfcourt to compliment it.

I'm just saying the whole "I wouldn't watch UT basketball if it wasn't a high-scoring team" is stupid, because I've seen people say that.

how is it an old guard vs. new blood debate. It's really a debate about coaching vs. rah-rah.
