I couldn't care less about bowl game wins/losses, but being bowl-eligible is a big deal in our circumstance. Butch & Co need some ammo for the recruiting trail.

I'm not sure what happened to this team after USCjr, but this team has gone into Dooley-mode since that win.

Butch has two weeks to get this team full-butch or I think this is going to be a painful offseason for this program. Tennessee fans are less patient than my 3 year old at an ice cream shop.

UT fans are insanely patient. It was 3 years before the majority of them wanted to fire a coach who never should have been hired in the first place. The majority on here would be happy with 6 wins this season. That's as patient as any large fan base for any major program in any sport is ever going to be.

Not trying to make excuses just stating that this team looks worn down because of the brutal schedule. It has to be the toughest schedule in the history of college football.

I agree though that Butch better have this team ready for Vandy. Looks like the open date came at a good time with a much needed 2 week preparation period. I think it will benefit the coaches and the team. Butch will have them ready because he knows what is on the line.:twocents:

A lot of hell will be raised if we lose at home to Vandy. If that happens I'm staying away from all boards for at least a week.

we better win. Have a bye week to prepare and the talent (or lack thereof) is not an excuse these last 2 games.

I like butch but changes must be made so that we can win games we need to (and should) win

Absolutely. As long as we hold this class together, things are going to get better. No doubt about it. Anyone with half a brain knew it was going to be a tough season (maybe not this ugly though). This recruiting class and the next one will determine the amount of success we have in the future. As hard as it is, we have to be patient.

IMO this will be Butch's toughest test to date...and I don't mean the level of competition. Until now, we've played one of the toughest schedules ever and these were all games we were technically supposed to lose...the uscjr game was fantastic and a year ahead of schedule however other than the cupcakes we played early, this will be the first game/games Butch should and must win...we really have no excuses about lack of team speed or depth for these.. I love the things Butch is doing and think will be a great coach however we must take care of business these last 2 games to keep the train from derailing. GBO

I can tell you what happened. We went from our strength on defense playing traditional offences to playing the spread. We just don't have the overall team speed to play the spread.

This is last year's team without the prolific offense - and they got banged by Vandy. If we lose to Vandy I'll be pissed but it won't surprise me.

He cant make players that have been through the nightmare of change change. Looking like 4-8 or 5-7 possible

"Less patient" ... really? It's been 6 years now and counting ... Geesh !!! How much patience do you think is reasonable? The fans have endured 6 years of piss poor football, 4 head coaches, countless staff changes, 2 AD's, NCAA investigations, NCAA penalties and now lawsuits. I think fans have been overly patient ... it's time for some f'ing results!!!

The game is winnable. At this point it's more about effort and progress than anything for me.

I'm hoping for 6/6 and a Birmingham Bowl so I can go watch :)

Vandy vs UT should be dubbed the IQ bowl based on our two QB's. Well assuming Patton starts for Vandy.

Right now we are on track where 90% predicted we would finish. It sucks to know that we were predicted to have a 5-7 record, but it is reality. Would I be disappointed. Yes. But would it be what was expected absolutely. I hate this but there is no need to complain about it. Only adds to the drama.

Palardy's turnaround has been a great example of what this coach and staff can do. He fixed an unreliable player with talent into a star. Raise his level. This improvement shows a lot about this coach and staff.

The "tough" stretch is over. The bye week is here for extra rest and preparation. The next game is Vandy and though many will try to build them up as something great, they aren't anywhere near the level of competition this team has faced recently. We have Vandy at home in what should be viewed as a must win. Imo this game will reveal if this team has truly bought in or not. If they don't take the field with the same fire and discipline that they had against Georgia and SC, then outside of recruiting, nothing has been accomplished this season.

Im still 100% behind coach, but it looks like we would have made a adjustment for them 2 plays they kept running over and over, just put a spy on the QB and knock his head off a few times, I guess the new rule hit to hard get to take a shower early.

No disrespect to Palardy, but the fact that you use our KICKER as the barometer for praising this coaching staff shows how terrible they are actually doing IN ALL OTHER AREAS.

Think this concept through and then tell me would you rather our kicker be coached up or our middle linebacker? BTW, you have to keep the game close in the first place for the kicker to have a chance.

But, your 3 year old probably has more sense than many on here.

He is the best example of someone who has been here four 4 years of BS. I watch J. Smith intercept that ball yesterday and thought where would he be today with four years of solid coaching....at times.

AJ is a 4* plus player when he has a compliment of linebackers around him. Sapp has endured this mess and think about where he would be with a stable coaching staff.

This team was infected with the Dooley Virus. Going to take more time than some of you are willing to give to heel. Palardy was a quick example but you can pull from the 4 to 5 year pool all day long and point to examples. The OL is another set of examples but their problems are more than just coaching changes. It involves system changes. Dooley did nothing to develop players in the depth of the roster, instead he just threw them on the field for OJT. On the job training. There is no depth development.

Cam Sutton, Dobbs, North, 2014 class are some examples of what CBJs brings to the table. They still need to be coached. He will get it done. Until this team is purge of the infection it is going to be painful.

Butch has not been here a full year yet. He can only play what was left from Dooley era. It is what it is so just deal with it. Butch is the man for this job. But you can always say fire Butch even though he has the number 2 recruiting class on rivals. Maybe you can run off some more recruits with all the negative crap.
