How do you think he would've handled all the miscues and mistakes, especially on the defensive side on the ball?

It's been said by Gruden himself he didn't like dealing with rookies, and it's because they make mistakes and cause perfectly designed plays to fail.

My point is, in the college game, the job is to develop players. Through development, failures and mistakes are expected. However, in the professional game, it's perform or you're replaced with someone who will.

I feel this reason, along with compliance and recruiting responsibilities, really has caused Gruden to struggle with taking the UT job. I don't have a source, or whatever, but I understand that, although he's still a coach...

A NFL job and College job are two entirely different things

Maybe he would have made sure the miscues wouldn't have happened.

Edit: great minds ...

A concern I have also is will he be able to recruit! I know if he comes to UT innicially it will pay big dividends because high school kids are us to seeing him on MNF, but will he be able to recruit when he has to go set in a kids home in a year or 2

Hopefully by then walking in the door will be enough :hi:

lol, I hope he would've stepped in before game 9 ...

I suspect there would've been less mistakes as well - but when it comes to depth, and well, you've got 3 options at safety, they all continue to screw up; The coach has to wait all season just to bring in a freshman replacement ... Not sure Gruden can handle that frustration

Perfect practice makes perfect. I have every confidence the Gruden would have destroyed any flaws on the practice field.

Even with only 20 hours of practice time a week? I feel NCAA compliance and restrictions are keeping Gruden from flat out pulling the trigger. Not saying he won't, it just makes it a tough decision
