First and foremost, and surprisingly we got beaten on both sides of the line.

We all know it all starts up front.

When you start crumbling at the line it effects all other positions and they begin to falter.

The line was a real strength of The General.

Now I am not excusing the other positions - dbs, etc. But they controlled us up front. When that occurs so many times you implode like be a house of cards.

The loss was a multitude of things. Some idiots want to just blame Milton. He definitely deserves blame. But we got out coached, out schemed and UF flat out executed better. I want someone to help me understand something.

I played pee wee, middle school and HS football. I played on the OL and DL. And I remember being taught how to tackle at a very young age. I also learned the importance of execution. So why can our players not do basic things like tackle? It’s baffling. This coaching staff isn’t teaching them NOT to tackle. So what is it? Bad execution. Pretty simple.

Just my opinion, then I'm going to bed: we cannot handle wild, loud, emotionally charged away games well. Scar would NEVER have beaten us in a 12 noon or 3:00 neutral field game last year, with or without Banks. Georgia might not have beaten us in a neutral site game last year, Florida never would have beaten us in Knoxville or a neutral site game, or maybe in the swamp at noon this year. When the stadium gets super loud and rocking, and it's not in our favor, and the hostile fans are crazy and we can't hear, we just don't handle it well. We were lucky to get LSU in an 11:00 AM game last year...imagine what it would have been like on national TV at 7:00 pm. Maybe it's the noise, maybe communications, maybe emotions, but it seems key to me. Pray Kentucky and Missouri are day games--preferably early. Not much hope for the Alabubba game.

Wonder what Georgia will do to our OL?

That's what amazes me is how D1 players think throwing a shoulder is blocking. Hell, in high school (Fulmer's alma mater) we had pick-up games with the football team with no pads or helmets and we blocked and tackled. Of course, Moose Bouldin banned the games because we were hurting too many of his players.

Yup. Yup. Yup. I get so frustrated watching D1-level athletes do fundamentally bad things. I get that tackling that guy that's bigger, stronger, and faster than anyone I've ever played against in my life is hard. And he's going to beat you sometimes. But...bruh? No excuses for wimpy arm tackles waving at the runner on his way by. Drives me crazy. Also, uh...penalties? I know, some of them were just plain hometown screwjobs. But, if you can't hear the quarterback, WATCH THE DAMN BALL! Or, go to a silent cadence. Or, WHATEVER!

I got an idea... One "halo" for each false start. And, if you're over 250, your halo is 2 plates! That'd get their attention.

We didn't have Mays and we didn't have Mincy. That's 40% of our offensive line gone. On top of that, the remaining linemen were playing alternate positions. Then add on that we are making all these changes at the last minute and we're going to try it all out in one of the toughest places to play in the country. Does this sound like a winning strategy? It didn't help that the defense wasn't ready to attack the gator running game. It didn't help that we have no SEC level cornerbacks. It didn't help that we would lose 2 to 3 possessions the second half due to side-betting officials.

In the second half the defensive adjustments were made and they worked. We had the gators getting 3 and outs. No, the gators didn't just try to run out the clock, we stopped them. The OL line play improved somewhat and we ran better in the second half. Unfortunately, whenever we would start a drive, we would get nailed by the officials. It was to big of a mountain to climb.

To fix the OL, we need players. SEC caliber players. Our depth has been exposed and is lacking. If Mays comes back and never gets hurt for the rest of the year, then we will be fine. What are the odds?

On defense, our front 7 is good. I have no idea if we even have a DB coach. I'm sure coach Heup is thinking the same thing.

Going forward, if you want to be really optimistic, our goals are still the same. Win out and everything will be fine. Also notice that I didn't mention Milton. That's because he was not the problem.
