Which current Vol recruit(s) have the best chance to get some good playing time this next season? I know CLK promised that each position (except for strong safety probably, lol) would have an open competition. So with that said, who do you all believe has a chance to maybe start, or play quite a bit next season?

Also, which recruit that might sign with us on NSD is the most "important?" As in who will get the most playing time if they decide to come to UT?

Thanks

RB David Oku comes to mind for early playing time. And as for the most important I'd have to say Marlon Brown.

Marlon Brown probably won't play any meaningful time "if" he comes here next season.

1)RB Oku-probably KR/PR and maybe some time on O
2)DB Thigpen-KR/PR and maybe some CB time, but probably ST
3)LB Askew-probably a solid contributor at MLB next season
4)DE Walls-if he really is around 250lbs look for O to help him tremendously
5)DT-one of those guys we have will have to contribute immediately

None of these are in order, just ones that popped into my head.

Out of our current recruits...Offense: David Oku - even though we have a stable of backs, Oku has such explosiveness it'll be hard for CLK to keep him off the field....Defense: Jerod Askew/Marlon Walls: Askew is a great athlete playing backer and has a great nose for the ball...Walls is a proven beast at LB but with his growing size and athleticism he should be a perfect fit as a pure pass rushing DE in CMKs defensive scheme.

There will probably be a lot more newbies on the field next fall than those three, but IMO those are the ones that will make an immediate impact.

To answer your last question, without a doubt, Marlon Brown would be a huge get on NSD. He would more than likely come right in and start on the outside in CLKs pro-style offense. However, just for fun, when we sign A.J. McCarron and surprise everybody, it would be the coup of the decade having pulled him right out from under Saban's nose...as I said...I'm just playing around....A.J. is the longest of long shots, but he would definitely be thrown right into the mix for the starting qb spot.

I just don't see him not making an impact if he were to choose UT. The fact CLK has made him priority numero uno, tells me CLK thinks the same thing.

Out of those that are solidly committed, I think that Defensive Ends Marlon Walls and Jonathan Hollins will see significant playing time early.

The guy that I am looking forward to seeing is track star Damien Thigpen. I have heard he has sub 4.3 time. I know everyone will be thinking "Oh great, another Leonard Scott." But I want to see what this staff will do with a guy like that.

I can't wait for spring ball!!

I also wanted to ask what you all think the possibility of obtaining 2 or more of these top tier WRs will do to the likes of A. Paige, EJAW (hes still at WR right?), Denarious Moore, and the like...who gets the shaft?

who is that??

I seriously doubt d-mo will be on the roster next year.
Why? I think he's paid his dues, and he really wants to make it to the pros. So I think and hope he works hard over the off-season to get better...and for God's sake, stay OUT OF TROUBLE!!!

I am certainly hoping that he straightens up. From what I have heard, he had more academic problems. I expected his release last week, but it hasn't come yet. Maybe they are giving him another chance. :dunno:

Marlon Brown is most important because CLK is MAKING him the most important. You can tell he loves the kid. We don't have many wide recievers that can hang with this kid, IMO. He'll probably get good playing time if he comes to play ball in the summer. Perfect for this system

I think Marlon Brown is a premier recruit and could instantly and have the same impact Julio Jones has had at Bammer. We must however have a quarterback capable of getting the ball in the right location for Marlon to show just how much tallent he really has.

I watched some Oku highlights and im really excited to see what he can do next year. Looks like he'll makea great KR/PR..and maybe jump in the RB depth chart, seeing as how no one has really made a big move since being on campus.
