Drudge is reporting that NYT is reporting that immigration reform in Congress is now on hold. What does this mean for the issue and what does this mean for the Minutemen and groups like them whipped up into a frenzy on this issue?

It's too close to an election for either party to go on record.

Unless they see a stoppage in campaign contributions and bad poll numbers, most aren't really concerned with what their constituents are thinking.

I don't believe they should be. They are not elected to vote exactly as their constituents want them to vote. When they are elected, the voters give to them the ability to vote their will. If you don't like it, then run for office and win.

Of course they have the ability to vote their will, but voters put people in office based on an expectation of what their will is going to be.

And, four/six years later, that voter has the opportunity to change his/her mind.
