Assuming we don't get Gruden, and we get a Fooley 2.0 for a coach, do we start over with Gruden then, or has he blown it forever with his crazy demands?

Gruden will never coach here. We had our chance. His demands, for as good as he'd be, weren't all that bad. No way we shouldn't have met them. Absolutely sickening if he really wanted the job.

It would be so great if our next hire had success and had a coordinator who became a "coach in waiting" so to speak. Sort of like Fulmer-Majors where we didn't have to go through this for awhile.

So we are going ahead and assuming we will be unhappy with and fire our next coach and going ahead and starting grudenmania 2.0?

If we screw this one up you can forget it.

Get use to looking up to Vandy, Miss State, and USC. B/c at best we will be UK south. So much damage has been done to the brand and WAY too many Vol fans will gladly fall in line with any loser as long as he's a "good ole boy" or just b/c he's "our coach".

This is crunch time for the program imo.

Yeah, if starting an internal khu and backstabbing your HC is a "HC in waiting", not sure I want to do that route.

As far as I can see we are not looking at any Dooley 2.0's. This is a pivotal moment in the history of the program. We need to support the next coach with everything we have, even if we don't ALL approve of the hire. And if he doesn't get it done, we all know what will happen...he'll be gone. But until then let's get behind the program.

Oh yeah, I'm no sunshine pumper. And I would argue that I wanted Gruden as bad if not more than anyone. But I've had to let that go. Before I fire the AD in my mind, I'm gonna see who he brings in and roll with it. The program needs the support.

Well it got us a NC, I am a Petrino supporter too so, I guess I really just want us to succeed and aren't too worried about being a "happy family".

Yeah, all of those boosters and facilities will just go away.

All that has done a lot of good under Dooley huh?

It's not just all about that it's about fan apathy. Winning get's that back and it takes a quality coach who can win to get that far. All the facilities in the world don't mean a thing unless we got someone who knows how to use them properly.

This fan base has proven it is ok with a loser and if Hart gets a loser the University will have shown it is too.

I'll play.

In three years . . . some of these guys that shouldn't be on our list right now will have proven themselves at upper-middle tier jobs and will actually be the kind of candidate a Tennessee should be considering.
